Noah took Weaver directly to the MIB headquarters. In the car, she asked a lot of questions and consulted Noah on how to answer questions from the interview.
Noah suggested that she follow her heart. Even if she lied to get in, she wouldn't last long in the MIB.
"N? Is this the new person you're recommending?" Chief Zed was at the doorway, looking at Weaver, and then at Noah, "You know the rules, right?"
"Yes, I'm just recommending her. As for whether to hire, of course, it's up to you, Chief." Noah slyly smiled. 'Some rules have loopholes to exploit.'
"Hi, K. I got you this, a retirement gift." Noah handed K the box in his hand.
J also took out a box wrapped in pink wrapping paper and mysteriously said, "K, I can assure you that nothing is more intimate than my gift."
Noah felt that J's smile was a little lewd and that the gift might not be anything serious.
"Thank you. This might be the last time we meet. After tomorrow, I won't remember you guys. I'm glad I recruited you guys. You guys will do better than I did."
"Chief, how about I recommend this lady to join? I haven't officially retired yet, so my recommendation should be enough."
K pulled Zed to the side, "N is excellent, we both can see that. We joined at the same time. In all our years, have you ever seen a better agent than N?"
"Kid's got spunk. And he got two Bugs without needing backup. Do you remember the first Bug we dealt with? Two agents died."
"And we've just read about this Miss Weaver. She's good. You know the research team would always need more hands."
"Also, we don't know yet. Maybe Miss Weaver would decide to leave after knowing the rules? Another expert isn't a bad thing. Put my name in the recommendation letter, and consider it the last thing I do for the MIB."
Zed patted K on the shoulder, "D had left, and now you. We were the team that founded the MIB. *sigh* I'm getting old."
Zed also felt loneliness. 'Maybe I should also retire? Go back to a normal life.'
There was a funeral in the family he had left behind, but he could only watch through satellite surveillance, and he couldn't show up.
"Well, it's your retirement party today, let's not get sentimental, come on."
Weaver sat on a barstool and looked at the liquid in the glass, "What kind of drink is this? Seems a little strange."
"This is a special botanical brew from the planet Rasu, a specialty of one of our colleague's hometown. The aftertaste is a bit strong, drink moderately." K came and sat down beside Weaver.
"N, I convinced Zed that Weaver should be given a chance. Passing the interview is up to her. You talk to her about the rules so she doesn't regret it."
"By the way, welcome to my retirement party. Look around, you'll understand why we have our rules."
Weaver was stunned to see a band not far away. Four alien members who look like short-tailed lizards were playing. The jazz sounded authentic.
"I think this is the best party I have ever attended in my life. Thank you for your help." Weaver came back to his senses and thanked K.
After a while, the music changed. O came over and pulled K up to dance. J also found a female logistics agent as a partner.
Weaver stood up and looked at Noah, "Can you dance?"
Noah touched his nose, "Maybe a little."
He had a LV2 proficiency in Latin dance, which includes five types of dances: Salsa, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Bachata, and Samba. The Rumba was a kind of dance that needed physical strength and explosive force, so it was also called an athletic dance.
Weaver happens to be wearing a skirt, although not wearing professional dance shoes, but she was tall. Standing with Noah, she was eye-catching.
When they danced to the music, it was even more eye-catching. The two made many difficult moves even though they were cooperating for the first time.
Noah felt that those dance moves were engraved in his bones, and he knew how to lead Weaver in the dance.
In just one minute, the middle of the dance floor was empty, leaving only Noah and Weaver.
When the song ended, they were applauded by everyone, and some people were whistling and shouting for another dance. Everyone wanted to watch them dance, they were like professionals.
Weaver looked at Noah with a surprised expression, "You were too humble. How could this be 'a little bit'?"
The audience was applauded, and Weaver was also very excited. She had never been the focus of an audience. This was a great feeling.
When she made eye contact with him during the dance, her heart thumped, seemingly faster than when she saw the alien.
J leaned in with some bitterness, "N, why didn't you tell me you could dance like that man? You gotta teach me some moves."
He thought that, with moves like that, he could definitely attract a female colleague from a different department.
He never really thought about it before. 'Do women think dance moves are important?'
"I just learned a little, it's pretty average. Besides, Weaver is a great dance partner."
Noah's expression seems to be saying that he could only dance well because she was with him.
J decided that, when they go out together, he shouldn't let Noah dance, or he'll be left standing there, holding the drinks all the time.
"So, N, where's your cat? The one that could do backflips?"
Weaver looked at Noah with a surprised expression, "You have a cat that can actually do backflips? I love cats, but I don't have time to raise them. Can I see?"
Noah smiled foolishly, "Orion is over there. I'll show you. Actually, it's not just my cat. I can do backflips too."
Noah gave a thumbs up to J behind his back. 'Awesome wingman! You don't need to pay back the money you borrowed to buy a gift for K!'
J blinked behind him. 'I asked you cuz I wanted you to bring the cat out for everyone to see. Why are you bringing a girl to your room? I wanna see it too!'
