Chapter 13: Chapter 13. Out on a Mission.

"Hey, J, did you pass the training?" In the evening, Noah went to J's dormitory and saw J lying on the bed like a dead pig.

"Damn it, Noah! Do you even need to ask? That instructor is inhuman, inhuman! Get it?"

"I know, he's a Xenograft. Also, you should get used to calling me N. It won't lead to any complications later on," Noah said. He had familiarised himself with some alien information. He needed to study so that when he went on a mission in the future, he wouldn't panic. And when he needed to fight, he wouldn't lose his confidence. The more he knew about the enemy, the better.

(A/n: Henceforth, J will refer to Noah as N, unless there's a complication.)

Noah sat on the bed, "I saw a spaceship today. It's much more awesome than the ones in movies. I also read a lot of information about aliens. Have you ever seen an alien with two heads?"

J's eyes lit up, "A UFO, what's it like inside? Forget it, don't say anything. I'll go and see for myself later. Ey... do you know some kind of martial arts that don't need you to be a virgin to learn?"

"J, I think you should focus on weapons. What's a punch infront of a gun? Also, I got some new equipment today, a Universal Translating earpiece. I'm wearing it now. It can translate, record, and amplify sound."

"The M.I.B has a lot of special equipment that could help us take on aliens. Even normal agents could get equipment to make up for their shortcomings. What a qualified agent needs to master most is to analyse any situation and execute calmly. We don't need to catch aliens with our bare hands."

"But you've got resilience. You were beaten so badly, but I can't see any injuries right now." Noah eyed J. 'The injuries on his body seem to have disappeared. Does J have some kind of recovery ability?'

"Nah, man, the alien doctor gave me some kind of medicine that could speed up recovery." J quickly explained. In Noah's eyes, he saw that weird look, as if he saw someone to use as a shield when they needed to fight against aliens in the future.

"Then you should rest up. I think we'll be on a mission soon. We don't want you to skip on your first mission, do we?"

Noah went back to his dormitory room. It looked like a micro-apartment. He closed the door, laid down on the bed, and pulled up the character attribute panel.

'It seems that each time I upgrade, my vitality will increase by 10 points. I guess this might have something to do with my life span...? Or maybe it was some sort of HP bar?'

After joining the M.I.B, he saw too many alien techs and also saw many alien races, many of which worked in the M.I.B and were regarded as his colleagues.

Some aliens looked very big and fierce, but they were actually gentle. Some aliens were very small, but they were very destructive, while others looked very similar to species from Earth.

After seeing all kinds of alien information, Noah really wanted to try to fight against some real aliens. 'This field mission.... they're going to provide me with some weapons, right?'

  ...

The giant Bug alien in Edgar's skin drove the van and followed his target by scent. His subordinates might have failed, but he wouldn't.

He saw the target at the door of a jewellery store named 'Rosenberg'. He had to get the 'Galaxy', an amazing source of power. With it, the Bug race would dominate the entire galaxy!

Watching the target leave, 'Edgar' followed behind. He waited for the other party to walk through a place where no one was looking. He was going to kill him and take the 'Galaxy'.

He was trying not to attract the attention of the earthlings and avoid getting into trouble. As long as he left Earth with the 'Galaxy', no one would be able to stop him!

  ...

"N. You have the basic understanding of the situation in M.I.B. If you still have some questions, you can ask me anytime. Remember, when you see an alien, stay calm. Don't panic, and don't...start pointing your weapons at them for no reason. The less you seem interested, the better."

'Ummm... Do all M.I.B agents have facial paralysis?'

"Is the Cephalapoid case settled?" Noah asked. 'It's time for that guy's boss to show up on earth. It would be better if we could catch him before he causes any damage.'

"Not yet; we didn't find any clues. We looked up all the information on the Cephalapoid since his arrival on Earth. We couldn't find any suspects related to the matter. We have contacted other alien diplomats; we should find something soon."

K suddenly stopped and turned to Noah, "Shouldn't you have forgotten about that?"

"I read some of my own information yesterday and learned that J and I had chased a Cephalapoid, who later jumped to his death. I think we should continue to follow up on that case. After all, he is the first alien I pursued." Noah was already prepared with his story.

"You're right; I was particularly keen on my first case too. But you don't have to believe everything an alien says. He could be lying. Besides, there are other agents following up on the case."

"K? Going to take your new partner out? I head you picked two people; where is the other guy? Was he fired?" A dog appeared in front of them now, speaking fluent English.

"Frank, going home? You don't need to worry about my partner. N, come with me to the bullpen. I might have to take you out into the field today. Of course, I hope not."

Noah didn't keep up with K but looked at the dog, "Your name is Frank? Do you know about the Cephalapoid that died two nights ago? Do you know who he's working for?"

Frank glanced at Noah with his dog eyes, "Do I know you, kid?"

Saying that Frank walked to the security check lane. He came to pick up his friend today, a friend who came to visit Earth.

"Although Frank is not much of a fighter, he knows a lot. You'd better get along with him. He has a good ear on things." K said.

At the heart of M.I.B's Headquarters, Noah had a cup of coffee in his hand and looked at the various people being monitored on the big screen. They all looked exactly like earthlings, but they were all aliens.

'Gee, there are many star athletes. No wonder they could do those things; they're all aliens.'

Zed looked at Noah and said, "N, you need to learn a lot from K. Being a good agent is not a matter of being physically fit and being able to fight. K had captured a lot of powerful and strong aliens. Ones that could kill you in seconds."

"Okay, Boss. Then, when can I get my own weapon? I want to get familiar with it as soon as possible, so I can do better in the future." Noah wanted those alien weapons right now. Even that tiny Noisy Cricket would be interesting.

Just then, an alarm sounded from the large screen.

Z turned to look at it and turned back, "I think you could carry one right now. K, take the junior here with you. This is a good one for him to warm up on."
