"It doesn't have to be like this, Alysia. It is true that Astrid is in the wrong but no matter what, she is still your sister. Not just a sister but your twin sister. You are one with her and she with you." Nathan tried to pacify her temper.

"That was then, Nathan! Not now! I believe that sisters fight but which reasonable sister stabs her own sister because of a man. What if I wasn't a vampire?! What would have become of me? Who knows... I would have been dead by now. Did she think about all that?!" Her eyes broadened in such a way that it seemed as if she was venting off her anger on him instead.

Nathan could understand her plight - compared to how others would have reacted to the situation, she actually reacted well. With what he had observed, she hadn't yet taken her pound of flesh on Astrid and he could understand why she was extremely angry -- and that was because she was trying to be patient with her.
