Ava felt a surge of panic. Should she deny it? What if Daisy pressed further and asked about the father of her baby? She couldn't reveal the truth or not now, not with everything still so fragile.

Ava remained silent, her mind racing. She didn't want to explain that Cameron, Daisy's brother, was actually the father of her child. It was a complication she wasn't ready to address.

Daisy seemed to sense her hesitation and her eyes filled with questions. "Really? It looked like there was something more there."

Ava forced a small smile but said nothing, hoping her silence would discourage further questions.

Just then, Jake reappeared, sensing the tension. "Everything okay out here?" he asked, looking between Ava and Daisy.

"Yeah, just catching up," Daisy replied, her gaze still on Ava.
