“They’re here!” one of the werewolves yelled.
I charged forward, heading towards the vampires that were quickly exiting the waters when I felt a hand tighten around my wrist.
I turned, locking eyes with Abel. His eyes were a tumultuous storm of emotions.
“Be careful,” he warned, his voice cracking slightly. I could hear the worry in his tone despite the tough timbre of his voice.
“You too,” I said with a wink, placing my hand on his and squeezing it before pulling away.
He nodded, his face hardening as he turned away and towards the battle. His eyes were stormy as he raced ahead, slashing his sword across the chest of one of the vampires before shoving him down to the ground.
I swirled around, sending someone approach as I reached for the knives in my waistband that I’d snagged during training. I sank it in the chest of the vampire who had crept behind me before fully noticing who it was.
I gasped once I recognized his rugged face and dull, grey eyes.
