Eleonore’s POV
When I opened my eyes again, Rhett was back to normal.
His eyes had lost that intimidating, crimson glow. There wasn’t any hint of anger or frustration in them, and we were both breathing too heavily to think. I watched as his eyes softened, and his thumb came up to wipe at the bottom lip of my mouth slow and steady. A shaky breath left him as he stared at me for a moment, before inching back on his heels and sitting down in front of me on the ground.
Hayden was still sitting beside us, watching both of us patiently, and just as I reached out to pull Rhett closer to me, his wide eyes staring at me from above the hand he was using to wipe at his mouth, there was a loud knock that came from the other side of the door.
