Eleonore’s POV
We were outside.
In the woods, more accurately. The ones just outside of the pack house, far away from the children and elderly and any other people who might fall victim to anything that might happen here tonight.
There were some wolves sitting on the outskirts of the clearing we were in, some of them sitting, some standing, but all always watching. Their sharp eyes hadn’t left the small circle we had created in the clearing and I watched as Viktor moved to stand in front of me.
Rhett and Hayden stood to the side with Ruan, Xavier, Claudius and the betas. They were the only wolves allowed close enough—they were the only ones who seemed brave enough to come any closer. Brave, or stupid? Or worried, maybe, protective—willing to sacrifice anything they could.
I wouldn’t let them, though. Whatever happened here tonight, no one was sacrificing anything else tonight.
