The twins did their best to explain to Ronan about what had happened within the cavern earlier that night, but through the array of everything that had happened even I had trouble understanding the full story. Throughout their explanation my mind was elsewhere, troubled by flashes of what had happened between myself and the demon that had possessed Bastian.

It had shown me all sorts of things, things I should never have been able to see. Ranging from the past to the present, things that I should have been kept in the dark about—the things about my parents, at least, I felt would haunt me for a long time.

Despite having so many answers given to me, there were still some lingering questions. The demon never told me why I had been the subject of his desire, why he had chosen my parents to possess—what did it need them for?
