Chapter 27: Chapter 27 : The Pool Incident

Eleanore's POV

I was walking down the path to the library later that night when I ran into Hayden again. His body was slick with sweat and somehow glistened lightly in the dim light of the street lamps. I shot him an amused look as he came to stop in front of me.

'Are you never not exercising?' I asked him with the help of my phone and he shot me a laugh.

"Very funny, Eleanore. Make fun of me all you want but when you're old and have weak knees you're going to wish you joined me." He said as he pointed a chastising finger at me and I shook my head at him.

'I already have weak knees, I was born with weak knees! Don't cite the deep magic to me.' He laughed again at my joke and fell in step beside me as we walked down the street.

"Well, sure, just accept the fact that you have weak knees. Your fate isn't set in stone though you know? You could always strengthen your muscles," he told me as we walked.
