Chapter 146: The Villain

(Rachel)

Rachel stood up from the couch in mild surprise as the doorbell rang. She knew that Samantha was holed up in her room and that Rody had left only a little while ago with the rest of the supermarket group. It was very unlikely that they had returned already. So if it wasn't either of them, she didn't know who else it could be. She walked up slowly to the front of the door and peered out through the peephole.

She saw Mira standing in front with a nervous look on her face. She kept looking back towards the elevator once every few seconds. Wondering what had gotten her so rattled, Rachel opened up the door and greeted her.

"Mira," she said in a soft tone. "What's wrong? Did something happen?" she asked.

"Oh Rachel…" Mira said in a nervous voice. "I really didn't want to burden you with this. But I—I don't know where else to go. I don't know who else I can trust…" Rachel noticed that Mira was trembling as she said those words. She quickly walked up and gave her a warm hug.
