Chapter 54: A muddle of hands and feet

(Meghan)

A cold chill went through Meghan's body when she heard the cacophony of screeches ring sharply in her ears. She immediately stood up in reflex, breathing hard and staring fixatedly at the figure standing in the middle of town. She then saw Ray turn back and sprint towards them, yelling something about the whole town being Erratics. For some strange reason, Meghan found herself unable to move. Her feet seemed glued to the floor. All she could do was stare at the lone figure standing a couple of feet away from her.

A faint sound suddenly drew her attention. It sounded like pattering coming from somewhere in the distance. The streetlights in that area hadn't been turned on, making it impossible to see. But as the pattering grew louder, she began to see the silhouettes responsible for the noise. With every passing second, the silhouettes seemed to multiple as they drew closer towards the light.
