Chapter 53: Theories

Halfway to Athani, Ray's mind got barraged by numerous thoughts. He had formulated several theories as to how Athani would be like at night. Some of them were very plausible while others were downright ridiculous. So much so that a random person might have even questioned his sanity. But Ray felt that he shouldn't disregard something just because it didn't make sense. If someone had told him two days ago that the people in his city would turn into flesh-eating monsters then Ray would have assumed they were an escaped asylum patient.

"What's on your mind?" Meghan asked, looking back at him.

"Ahh, nothing." He replied, "Just wondering what we're going to find."

"I'll tell you what we'll find." Sheila cut in, "more Crazies. Or… what did y'all call them again? Deathless? Ahh I can never get used to saying that name."

"What's wrong with it?" Meghan asked with a slight defensive tone.
