Chapter 44: Gains and Heirs

After resting up, Lucas proceeded to check out the body of Jane and was surprised at what he found.

Two items were found on her body that was of significance. A cloak that she had fastened around her waist and a dagger that sucked up the surrounding light.

<Shadow's Veil / (Perfect Quality)(Grade: Very Rare)>

Description: Physical shadow was used to make this cloak... its stealth capabilities are endless.

Passive Ability: +50% bonus to stealth.

Description: This dagger was forged out of the heart of a shade and demon stone in a forge made of the river of lost memories. Gifted as a gift to all of those who become the heir of shadows.

Active: Illusionary Shadow World: Put the target to sleep and attack them mentally. While this is active you may not deal physical damage to them.

Passive: Stealth strikes count as critical hits.

He nodded at the items and decided that it would be best to nurture someone who had better talents in using these items than he did.

'I don't really enjoy stealthing and shadows... they are just plain creepy,'

He finally unmuted his notifications while he was looting her and a notification popped up that reminded Lucas of something that had happened just when the apocalypse had started that he had long forgotten.

"Sure! I completely forgot that I could do this... I remembered that the goggles gave me an ability similar to this but I guess I really haven't looted dead bodies for a while,"

'Fucking hell... I'm ready to be tier 2 already?!'

Lucas stared at the notification for a long time before realizing that killing high-leveled individuals were better than just killing monsters. It seemed like humanoids gave more XP than their counterparts.

'Let's clear out the rest of the hospital before evolving his subclass.'

Surprisingly enough... there were no humans left alive in the hospital that he could find. It seemed like the remainder of the Humans from before either left or got killed. Which showed that not all the people in the hospital were evil, to begin with.

'Seems like there may be a lot of useful supplies here... Maybe we should expand our territory,' Lucas thought to himself before deciding that it was best to consult with Lina on the matter before he did anything too hasty.

'She was reading medical books... Shouldn't be hard to find those in a hospital,'

And low and behold, he found some in a few personal offices of the higher-ups of the hospital. They looked rather advanced but a few of the topics seemed to be for the basics which should be useful to Lina.

Other than the books he also managed to track down some medical supplies that looked like it would be useful, though Lucas wasn't certain since he hadn't dabbled much further than basic first aid before.

After packing up his bag with the new supplies he barricaded the doors to make sure that no one else went inside for the meantime and began to head back towards home base.

Along the way, he pondered over various subjects and tried to connect some strange occurrences.

'She was an heir... just like me.'

'What does being an heir mean? It's not a title you get from killing someone... So perhaps you get it for accomplishing a task?'

'I got mine from crafting the first Mythical item in the world. So I wonder what is needed for you to become the heir of shadows,'

'It seems rather vague... Almost as if it was meant to be a secret,'

Lucas shook his head in confusion and got away from the topic.

The 'Power walk' of a lifetime occurred and Lucas quickly realized he had leveled up some of his skills while he was fighting previously.

After looking at his leveled-up skills Lucas realized something rather scary.

'I'm probably not the highest leveled humanoid out there...'

'There are probably already people who have reached tier 2 before me just by slaughtering other people and stealing their experience points,'

He grimaced at the dark thought before continuing on his walk.

It wasn't long before he reached home and he found that a few of the men from the scouting expedition had succumbed to their wounds.

Lucas quickly gave Lina and those who were trying to help the wounded men the medical supplies he found at the hospital so that they may be saved.

He stared at two of the lifeless corpses that were laying in cots that were placed in a tent on the side of the road.

'At least I got some payback for your poor souls...'

Lina looked at the remaining men who were all in huge amounts of pain and released an audible gulp.

"I mean... you gotta do something here," Lucas said while looking at the clearly nervous Lina.

She nodded hesitantly before moving forward and dressing the wounds of the scouts.

After what felt like forever Lina had finally finished all that she could do and she sat down in a lawn chair in a plop.

"So, Lucas, what happened at the hospital? It seems it went well," She said while nodding to the medical supplies and books he brought back.

"Killed everyone I could find. Looks like those who were innocent either left or got killed by them so..."

Lina nodded in an unfazed manner.

"It's what people like them deserve,"

"I broke the goggles too,"

Lina nodded as she raised one of her eyebrows at the mention of the forsaken item.

"I know the bitch is dead but I still don't want to keep anything around that she has touched,"

She remained silent in response and slowly began reading a medical textbook in front of her.

Lucas zoned out too and began looking at the options for the evolution of his subclass.

'But <Advance Relic Master> just seems to be more of my style. I love creating things and if I had to stop doing that because of a class choice I would never forgive myself. So for now... I think <Advance Relic Master> is the choice!'

Sorry for there not being a chapter yesterday... I missed my meds and was a mess all day long. So to make it up I plan on doing another chap or two today and one of those will be a bonus chapter seeing as I have gotten 20 summoning pens... lmao.
