Chapter 75: New Character

Lara's POV

My heart pounded as I unlocked and entered my home. The day had been wild. I just had a few minutes to cook, so I dropped everything on the table and ran to my bedroom. A business dinner at an amazing restaurant means dressing fancier than for work, but not for a club. First, I played with my hair in the restroom. I'll tie it up later, but I'm getting ready for work. I looked professional in minutes using foundation, concealer, and glittery dark eyeliner. I held my hair and moved my head for a simple, dramatic look.

"Not Brent's benefit, but the managers'" I told myself at my counter, "He must go." I curled my hair into a low ponytail and braided my bangs. I've long known I should embrace my curls. I walked back to my room and sought a black dress. My knee-length dress had cap sleeves and a ruffled skirt. I stained my lips scarlet and checked my watch to see if I had time to apply more perfume to my neck and wrists before adding a dazzling necklace.
