The ten crows ran towards the closest enemy nin, anyone who wasn't wearing the headband of the hidden leaf. The first crow to reach an enemy nin slashed it's claws at the neck. With one strike the head left its body and a shower of blood erupted. He couldn't react as he could not see the threat that so callously ended his life.
The crow didn't spare a second longer and moved to the next target. Similar scenes echoed throughout the battle field as his murder rained down upon the enemy. Ashidon just stood and watched with his two black ghosts standing by his side, spears at the ready for any threat.
"Fall back! We need to re '' One of the enemy nin tried to organize his men, but he was cut off as a crow disemboweled him. Ashidon watched on in wonder but he kept his face impassive.
'Holy crap, they are really effective. Well, the fact that the enemy can't see them adds to their lethality. Oh, looks like it's over.' The battlefield was silent, where once there was a heated struggle between the forces of the hidden leaf and the hidden stone, now all that remained was the surviving members of the hidden leaf while all the members of the hidden stone lay dead.
"What have you done?" A jonin, perhaps the leader of this force, was the first to speak up.
"I eliminated the enemy." Ashidon replied simply.
The jonin stared in shock at Ashidon before coming to his senses. "What are you all staring at!? Gather the wounded, clear the dead, set up camp!"
His words got everyone moving, they went about their tasks with grim efficiency. The jonin made his way towards Ashidon with a few others following behind him.
Ashidon mentally ordered the ten crows to dissipate and their bodies immediately dissolved. The two black ghosts remained at his side and remained vigilant.
"Come with me." The jonin said before leading the group of jonin including Ashidon to a more private location. They simply moved some distance away from the main force.
"What's your name?" The jonin asked.
"My name is Ashidon Ajin, captain." Ashidon replied.
"I don't recall any jonin with that name." The jonin replied.
"I'm not a jonin, captain. I'm a chunin." Ashidon replied.
The eyes of those gathered widened at this news. The jonin captain barely managed to keep his face neutral. "I see, who is your sensei?"
"My sensei was Todo, he and the rest of my team, they didn't make it." Ashidon replied, as he said this his chest tightened and he didn't notice his hand clenching his shirt. The other jonin looked on in understanding.
"I understand, can you explain that?" The jonin asked, indicating the blood stains on Ashidon's shirt. Ashidon looked down at the bloody flak jacket and the place where the kunai was previously lodged. Clear unblemished skin could be seen from the hole.
"I don't know, I just remember waking up and using a power I've never used before." Ashidon replied.
"And what was that power exactly? What was that scream and why did the enemy suddenly die?" The jonin pressed.
"You can't see them?" Ashidon asked, knowing full well that they wouldn't be able to, but he had to play his part.
"See what?" The jonin asked.
"C, captain, I can see them." another jonin stepped forward, he was a hyuga and he looked upon Ashidon with his byakugan activated.
"What do you see?" The jonin captain asked.
"There were ten of them captain. Even with my byakugan activated I could only faintly make them out. It was like looking into pits of darkness, if it weren't for the faint traces of chakra I wouldn't have been able to notice them. When we all heard that scream, they stood around him. Black creatures, they moved fast, and not a single stone nin could see them. After the massacre, ten seemed to dissolve, but two remained standing by his side." Hyuga finished while looking up at Ashidon's black ghosts.
"It's as he says, Captain. I think I may have unlocked some hidden power." Ashidon added.
"A keke genkai?" The Captain asked.
"It could be, though I've never heard of a keke genkai like what you described, Bokokji." Another member of the group stepped forward and added his own thoughts.
"Whatever it is, it's powerful, and we could use all the weapons we can get. Are you able to control it?" The Captain asked.
"Yes Captain." Ashidon replied.
"Very well, as commanding Captain I promote you to jonin." The Captain said, surprising Ashidon.
"Jonin?" Ashidon replied.
"Yes, jonin. You took out the entire force of the enemy by yourself, and I believe you've gained plenty of experience from the previous battles. Besides, I have a mission for you." The Captain explained.
"What is the mission, Captain?" Ashidon asked.
"I want you to join a team that scouts. Lead the way towards our next camp and take out any enemies you come across. Do you understand?"
"I do, Captain." Ashidon replied.
"Good, Kyusai here will be the team leader. I'll leave the details to him, I must organize the rest of the forces." Finished, the Captain left with the others except for one.
The two eyed each other for a moment. Ashidon noted the plain appearance of Kyusai. Brown hair and black eyes, average height, absolutely unremarkable. Kyusai too eyed Ashidon. He noted the pale skin, dark hair and green eyes of the recently promoted jonin. After a moment Kyusai was the first to speak.
"Congratulations on your promotion. As the captain has already told you, I will be leading a team of forward reconnaissance. I must ask, are you a sensor?"
"Thank you, and yes I am a sensor." Ashidon replied.
"Good, our role will be to clear a path to the next checkpoint for the main force to establish a camp. We continue to push the line, we keep moving forward. Do you understand?" Kyusai asked.
"I do, captain." Ashidon replied.
"Alright, wait here while I gather the others that will be joining our little team." Kyusai said before running off.
'Okay, now that I'm alone I can assess the situation. From my memories, I know that this is the third shinobi world war. Which means that this is the generation of Kakashi and Obito. At least a decade before Naruto's generation. This is actually a good thing as I won't be too old by the start of the story. No, I need to stop thinking of this as some story. This is real, and I could die here if I don't take it seriously.' Ashidon took a moment to think of all the dangers in this world. Reminding himself of the realities of this world, he hardened himself. The assimilation of the previous owner of this body playing a major role in his ability to do so.
'We are currently at war with the stone village, yet we aren't the only two players in this grand scale conflict. The other villages also participated in this event. Many notable ninjas made a name for themselves in this war. I will be one of them. I'm not sure what my overall goals are yet, but for now I just want to survive and be recognized. Sad I only got one wish, at least I made the most of it.' Ashidon spent a few minutes reassuring himself. He was ready for the adventure he always wanted.
