Lia wanted to clear the air. She wanted to tell Ryan everything that happened after he left eight years ago and confront him about his role in the story. It was time to address the elephant in the room.
“I…”
“Hello, may I come in?” Debbie called from the door before Lia could speak.
“Come in, Mom!” Ryan called out.
Debbie walked in, accompanied by Dawn.
“We wanted to make sure that you are both okay,” Debbie said.
Ryan stood up and helped Lia to her feet.
“We are ok,” Ryan responded.
“How are you, my dear?” She directed the question to Lia.
“I am fine. I do apologize for everything that occurred earlier,” Lia said. She felt bad for how her family had displayed such dysfunctionality in front of the Nash family.
“Hush my dear! You have nothing to be sorry about. It was a long day, and people had a bit too much to drink.” Debbie waved her arms to dismiss Lia’s apology.
