Chapter 79: Side Story 1: Twin Stars
After project Ark was initiated. The sea of quanta swallowed up the whole ship. Everyone on board started to quantize because they cannot handle the properties of the quantum sea. Where physics do not work normally, and those who are not prepared, sink to the bottomless void. Never to be seen again.
Except the twins. They were enhanced by Ein and Mobius to take ridiculous punishment. And they are highly adaptable to honkai energy. Miraculously, right when they were about to be swallowed up in to the void. With their adaptability and strong bodies, they started to harness the energy in the sea instinctively. As they used their newfound abilities to fly quickly. Avoiding certain death in the abyss.
The twins panted heavily as they look down on the dark depths. "We're... Alive. But where are we? And what do we do now?" Lumine spoke as she started to get anxious.
Aether held her shoulders as he decided to do something. "Dr. Ein told us that we'll be travelling to a new place. And we can't do anything but that." As he pulled her, they flew in the sea endlessly, protected by a layer of energy. Looking like twin stars that leaves a trail of light inside the void of the sea.
They saw a bubble that contained what looks like to be a universe. "There! We should go there!" Lumine pointed at it as they go close, then the bubble swallowed them up.
They materialized in some ruins, not a soul in sight. As they scanned their surroundings and flew in to the air. Trying to find a human settlement.
After hours of searching, they could only see ruined cities and destruction. "Aether... There's nothing here but old buildings that has been destroyed." She looked at the concrete structures that were now starting to crumble from the ravages of time.
Aether nodded and frowned heavily. As he remembered Dr. Ein's words that they might arrive at a hostile place, or somewhere that civilization is destroyed. Leaving only signs of them just like what they have seen now.
"We should contact Dr. Ein. He's nice, unlike the other 2 professors." Lumine remembered the cold and indifferent Mei, and Mobius' piercing eyes that looked at her like she was an interesting animal.
"Yeah, we should try." Aether took out a communicator that was purposely designed to bring news and reports back to Moth. Unfortunately, they can only work with the ship's beacon. As Aether tried to use it, but it didn't work.
"Uhhh. What now? Should we explore this place?" Lumine reluctantly asked as she didn't want to stay in the place.
Aether shook his head as he already knew that this is a now dead world. "Let's go. We can only move forward, at least we still have each other." They decided to leave the universe and travel again to another one.
They traveled and traveled. Discovering bubble universes galore, at 1st. They were a bit anxious about it all, but they got used to it as time passed. Sometimes, arriving at a place with civilization. But it was getting ravaged by honkai, dead worlds, inhospitable ones, inhuman inhabitants. Etc. They traveled the quantum sea endlessly. As thousands of years pass, with the abundant energy in the sea, and their enhanced physiques. They didn't age in the slightest, while sustaining themselves with the energy, the soulium enhancement nourishing their bodies.
They didn't give up. As they travel anywhere fate took them. Even forgetting their home, only remembering the bare basics. As the brain, no matter how complex, needs to delete memories. And even immortals suffer the ravages of time. They did remember to never forget some things.
To find a place they can call home. And Dr. Ein's instructions for them on how to survive and fight, although just the basics. They carry a sword that was stuck to them, even inside the cryopod.
"Let's go there. That place looks promising!" Lumine pointed to a bubble universe. She had a good feeling about it.
Aether sighed as he looked at it and it looked the same as the others. "You've said that for how long now Lumine. Let's go." They entered it and saw civilizations.
They flew high up in the sky above the clouds as they saw structures made of rock and they landed on a platform. They were about to rest for a bit, but a rift in space opened as they went on guard.
A woman with white hair that flowed behind her back appeared as she floated. "Outlanders, your journey ends here." She squinted her eyes at them as Lumine stepped forward.
"Who are you!?" She asked the woman as she immediately replied. "The sustainer of heavenly principles. The arrogation of mankind ends now!" A black cube with red markings appeared on her hand as they felt something bad will happen. They saw the ground glow as they dodge, a black cube appeared on their previous position.
The woman held her hand out as the black cubes in differing sizes started to chase them endlessly. Not wanting to know what would happen, they flew and dodged. But the attack was relentless. They brandished their swords and attacked the woman.
She just floated there and blocked their attacks as a shockwave exploded. The swords were blocked by an invisible shield, they couldn't even budge it. As Aether flew backwards, but Lumine was a bit too late.
She was swallowed up by the cubes and turned to blocks. "Lumine!" She looked at her brother one last time. The woman then contained her inside a cube on her hand.
Aether, in his rage condensed energy on his sword and tried to blind side the woman. As he hit with all his might and an explosion of fire spewed out of his sword.
He breathed heavily, but the smoke and fire started to backtrack like time was being reversed. He saw the woman unscathed, as his hand was caught in a cube. They started to swallow him up as well. "Wait! Don't go! Give me back my sister!" He saw the woman with an indifferent face as he blacked out unconscious.

This will get continued at a later time. When other characters in the current era are introduced. As I'll be making them go in Teyvat as well, it would be relatively calm when they arrive. So nobody would attack them, or Teyvat will be gone, reduced to atoms. As Ein is much much stronger in the future. Or, I'll let him go there alone 1st.
