"Like both the male and the female bite into each other's skins?"

"Yeah, they do, my lady."

"No, my lady. You don't have to do that. Only his majesty will do it. And besides, only the Alpha has the right to choose his own mate. 

He can choose a human if he wants to. That's why for the marking process, the Alpha doesn't need to be marked.
