Chapter 22: Say That Again!

"Alec, why don't you invite your friends at home. It will be good if we will be able to meet them?" Alec raised his head and looked at his father who was behaving weird these days.

Since when has he been too benevolent with him? He was not a fool to believe that he had a change of heart suddenly.

"I do not have any friends, father!" he did not want him to know about Jenny. He did not know why but he did not like it when anyone knew or talked about her.

She was only for him to know and see!

The man raised a brow and chuckled as if he had heard a good joke! But his face was cold with no amount of warmth in it that could creep anyone.

"Is that so? What a pity!" he took another slice of hamlet in his mouth as he did not comment further on the topic much to the relief of Alec.

Alec took quick bites of her left breakfast and stood up to leave! He did not even understand why his father, who left home very early in the morning, decided to stay till late and asked to have breakfast with him.

His mother thinks that he had changed suddenly and wanted to be a part of the family but Alec would never believe that!

"You seem to be in a hurry! There is still time for the bus!" The man turned his hand and scanned at the watch with a nefarious smile on his face that seemed to keep Alec on the edge.

"I did not want to be scolded by the teacher again, father! I want to be a good student!" he retorted as he went to the kitchen counter and picked up the lunch.

He would have left it like before to avoid the man but then Jenny would be concerned and scold him for being careless.

"Good you say! What a relief!" the face of the men turned colder as if Alec had told him he would kill him! Her eyes looked no less than blackholes which would suck any light around him.

He was looking so strange and scary and for a minute Alec felt he was not the man Alec knew.

"Aren't you getting late now while staring at me?" The man chuckled again as he took another slow bite of the omelet and ate it leisurely yet there was something strange in the way he was eating it.

Alec did not reply to his father as he put the lunch in his bag hastily and walked out of the room.

"Oh Alec, if only you had listened to us easily! You are forcing us to take the difficult path!" Jack shook his head and then looked at the plate that had blood dripping out from the omelet and strange marks on the plate with a scary smile on his face.

Alec felt like all his nerves were churning! It has been days since I had life and was only trying for the better.

He never wanted to be the villain, the monster others think he was! They used to be scared only with his single gaze. But since Jenny had come into his life, he had felt he could be a human too.

He did not feel different now. But what if these things would only be short -lived!

What if.. He shook his head! He would not let anything happen to his happiness.

He would tell Jenny that he liked her after the quiz and even find a side job and leave this fucking scary house.

He would have a good life that he desired. His eyes shone with determination as he planned everything in his mind.

The sound of the bus broke his thoughts and he walked towards the vehicle with a warm smile on his face that would have looked spooky to everyone but Jenny smiled back brightly looking at him.

He walked in and sat beside him and felt his nerves finally getting at ease. She was his cure, his sanity therefore he would never lose her.

"You are looking troubled, Alec. Did something happen?" the girl tilted her head and closed the book in her hands as her face filled with worry and her brows knitted.

"Not anymore!" he whispered when he looked into her bright eyes that blinked listening to his reply and he shook his head.

He turned and opened his bag and took out his notebook,

"Look, I have made all the notes on botany from the third chapter. You do not need to read all of it now. I have covered all the important points in simple words!"

The eyes of the girl widened and beamed with joy as if she had found a lost treasure. She snatched the book from his hands and scanned the details.

Her lips parted in a big "O" as she flipped the pages and gave a detailed look to its content.

"Oh my! You are a genius Alec! I love you so much!" She let go of the book and pecked the cheeks of the boy whose body turned rigid and his soul left the body.

He was so stiff that he was not even breathing until the girl let go of him and her eyes concentrated on the notebook again.

His hands instinctively moved to the place where the girl had just kissed and he could still feel her warmth there. His whole body glowed as if a magic had done and the words she whispered casually continued to ring in his ears like alarm bells.

"Say that again!" he spoke unconsciously and the girl who was lost in the book did not pay much heed to him as she asked nonchalantly,

"Say what, Alec?"

She didn't even turned to look at him but every cell of his body was wide awake and alert as he repeated,

"Say that you love me, again Jenny!"
