Chapter 4: Real Feelings

"Stay away" Alec shouted with all his might. He would not let the dragon ruin his moment. This was the first time he had a friend in his life.

His anger filled eyes were enough to scare everyone around him. All the men near him flinched and gave him a last look as they scurried away. Even the dog that a lady was taking for a walk started barking loudly at Alec.

The girl beside him flinched too. But she tried her best to maintain a smile on her face. She knew that he was not talking to her. She had seen him often talking to himself. She was sure he was not a bad person, he just needed psychiatric help and if she supported maybe he would turn into a fine child too.

His eyes popped open after five seconds only to see her awkwardly standing in front of him.

"Are. Are you okay?" she asked him and he tilted his head and looked around with a sharp look as if he was scanning the whole area and making sure that nothing wrong was there.

"I am fine. What will happen to me?" he asked, finally looking at her.

This was a strange question for her as she felt tongue ties again.

"Umm, isn't your hand bleeding? We need to go to the hospital soon." she replied, changing the topic.

He looked at him and then at his hand. He wanted to tell her that it was fine. No matter how much blood he would lose nothing would happen to him but looking at her worried face, he felt something different and nodded his head just to appease her worries.

The girl smiled kindly, when she saw him accepting her offer. She held his other hand and then started walking towards the nearby clinic.

Alec looked at her and then their entwined hands. It was a strange feeling yet he liked her. His mood improved as he continued to look at her tiny hands that were wrapped around his big hand.

Soon they both reached a nearby clinic. The nurse looked at them with a frown. Both kids were wearing school uniforms. It was school time, she had seen many youngsters bunking school and roaming around.

Especially the couple dating, and there was only one reason when they came to the doctor. Her overworking mind has already deduced a story. But still being a professional, she stayed silent and waited for them to tell the reason for coming there.

"Hello, how may I help you?" asked the nurse, looking at both of them with her professional smile.

"Umm, Alec had a small accident while going to school and his hand got injured. We are here for treatment." the girl pointed at his hands and the nurse looked at the wound with embarrassed eyes.

She gave a real smile this time.

"Sure little girl, you wait here. I will clean the wound and then bandage it." she pointed at the nearby chair as she held Alec's hand but Alec jerked her hands away.

"I can walk." he said curtly as he walked towards the room.

The nurse looked at the girl in surprise who gave an awkward smile.

"He is a bit shy." she replied and the nurse could only nod and let the matter go.

When Alec opened the door. The dragon that was sitting inside the room covering the whole room with its big body turned and looked at Alec with a bored look.

But when his eyes fell on Alec, he snickered and his expression turned furious.

"Salallaarrkkara '' it snickered its tongue and sat up bumping its head in the ceiling. It started leaving warm breath on Alec's skin. It was a clear indication that he was going to breathe fire again. Its wound on the eyes had dried leaving a mark on his scaly skin.

"Oh, I am sorry. The doctor is still not here so the room is dark." said the nurse as she switched on all the lights of the room.

The room was filled with brightness in that instant. She walked in leisurely and sat on the chair while Alec continued to stand there looking at the blank space making her confused.

"Is there some problem dear?" she asked, as he still took no effort to come close to her.

Finally Alec turned and looked at her. This was the first time their eyes met and she shivered. She had never seen this type of eye. His eyes was pure red, with golden iris and slit pupil. The eyes were like wild animals.

It was so scary that she flinched. As if all the blood vessels of his eyes have split open and the blood could be dripped from his eyes any moment. And that split pupil were like lizards.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" asked Alec, tilting his head as the face of the nurse was filled with fear and a sheen layer of sweat formed on her face.

"Uhmm, nothing, my child. Come.. come here so that i can bandage your hands." she replied, swallowing the lump formed in her throat.

She wiped her both hands from her skirt.

Alec nodded and walked towards her. He sat on the chair in front of her and she moved and took disinfectant to clean his hand but no matter how much she tried to avoid her gaze was going back on his eyes.

They were too scary yet too dominating that no matter how much she tried, she could not keep her eyes away.

Her hands were shivering and it was making the whole process sloppy.

Alec was trying to bear with it after all she had brought him here. But he could feel the fear coming out of her body. He could feel her shivering body.

"You are afraid, aren't you? Trying to cover up your fears with this sloppy movement. As an adult I have expected better from you!" he replied in a low voice that left a shiver down her spine.

The glass bottle that was on her hands fell making a clink sound and the moment she looked up, he was looking at her intensely, his eyes were redder and wider than before and the slit of his iris moved and her breath stopped.
