Chapter 17: We were robbed
In a certain area in the middle of the forest…
The place was a small village with no houses, just stalls selling random items. Instead of calling it a village, the place was just a small area surrounded by a wooden wall.
Inside there were only young people who were participating in the test.
This place was called the Trade Camp. The place where participants sell and exchange items obtained in the forest can be items from the test list or random things.
…
"Liu Yang, what are we going to buy here?" Lin Hai asked excitedly.
In the sales stalls, there were many items he had never seen before.
"We're going to buy some stuff so those two can pass the challenge and sell other stuff. But there's only one other item left, that should be enough, as long as they manage to level up and don't get stolen when it's time to return" Liu Yang replied.
The group spent a day and a half training non-stop in the forest to level up, or rather, only Zi Long and Sun Bai did it. Liu Yang and Lin Hai were already at level 5 and can no longer level.
Unfortunately, their levels were still below 5, but not far off. So they could only continue in the forest and train until they reached level 5.
"Liu Yang, there's only one more day left for the challenge to end. Is that enough for them to make it to level 5? I find it difficult." Lin Hai didn't believe it would be possible to do this without defeating the level 5 creatures.
"I think it's impossible, but they still have five more days before the second test. That should be enough time for them to level out. We just need to find some items."
Liu Yang and Lin Hai were walking around the stalls looking for items on the list, things Zi Long and Sun Bai didn't have yet.
"Hey Liu Yang, look at those items. Aren't you looking for those things?" Lin Hai stopped next to a stall and pointed to two items shaped like seeds.
The same seeds he received from Sun Bai.
The seller was sitting on the floor and the products were spread out on top of a cloth. He looked ordinary, but his clothes were wet and dirty.
The vending stalls were just people sitting on the floor and selling stuff.
"Hello, I would like to know what you want in exchange for these items?" Liu Yang pointed to some items to avoid suspicion.
"Hello, I don't have a price for these items. I will accept whatever you have from the challenge list." The young man showed a list with some items and a number written on the side.
Name - Quantity.
"I see… Would you trade those three items for thirty of these?" Liu Yang pointed to one of the items on the list.
The quantity was large because they were the most basic and easy-to-find items.
"If you give me thirty-five, I'll take it." The young man thought for a moment before speaking. He thought he could ask a little more for the items.
Liu Yang took two of the same items, so the young man thought he was interested in both items.
"All right." Liu Yang accepted without a second thought. He wasn't going to waste time negotiating.
The thirty-five items were placed on top of a small wooden board for the young man to count.
"It was really nice doing business with you"
The pair went to another tent to look for the seeds.
A few moments later…
In the same tent…
A group of youths appeared at the youth's tent.
"Hey, where are those seeds you were selling earlier?"
"The seeds have already been sold to a group that came here before. They took a few more things along with the two seeds" The young man replied casually. He recognized the young man who asked.
"Could you describe them to me? Here's a nice payday for that." Another young man in the group tossed a leather bag. He had a nice appearance and wore new clothes with some accessories.
"Two boys, one thin and one fat. I don't know if they are in a group or not." His response was quick and practical.
"I see… Let's look at the other stalls"
The group went to several stalls looking for seeds, but when they found out someone had bought almost all the seeds that were being sold. They were surprised because the person paid a large number of items for these things.
"I see… These two must be part of some group, a normal duo wouldn't have as many items to buy these seeds. As they are with so much, they must have a lot more. We will look for them and try to find their backgrounds."
"Okay" The group split up to look for two young men, one thin and one fat, inside the Trade Camp.
Unfortunately, they couldn't be found because the two already left.
…
Liu Yang and Lin Hai returned to the forest after buying some things.
By dusk, the sun was already setting and darkness began to completely cover the forest.
Creatures become more active and violent than usual.
Upon reaching the marked point, Zi Long and Sun Bai were there waiting for them.
On their bodies you could see signs of battle.
"Are you two okay?"
"Yea. A group of idiots tried to rob us, but after realizing that we didn't have any items, just the weapons, and armor given by the school, they took our weapons and let us escape. That was very humiliating. I just needed to defeat a few more creatures to level up to level 4." Zi Long complained.
"How many members did the other group have?"
"They had four members, but only one of them was level 4, the other three were level 3."
"Ohh... I see… Liu Yang, can you borrow your sword for us to level? After dinner, I think I can level up." Sun Bai asked. She really needed to level up if she was going to pass the test.
"This is not a problem. You can use this sword, but one at a time. During the night, you can take turns. Let's camp and catch some fish before we do anything else."
"Okay" The four walked to an area of the river. They didn't want to be in the same place as before.
After the group left, a shadow appeared in the forest and followed them silently.
