Chapter 5: Reunion

Luna looked at herself through the mirror in her room. The black dress she wore was the very same one that the late Lord and his family gifted her on one of her birthdays. The dress hugged her body at the right place as if it was created using her measurements.

The diamonds would sparkle occasionally when the candlelight fell on them.

"You look wonderful, dear."Luna's aunt complimented.

Luna smiled at her aunt and thanked her for her compliment.

The Lord had been kind enough to send a carriage to pick her up. That way she would save the time taking the local carriage that made frequent stops here and there.

Luna waved to her uncle and aunt who were waving her like they might not see her again. The coachman opened the door for her and helped her in.

The interior of the carriage was fancy. The seat was cushioned perfectly, as expected of a carriage from the Lord's household.

The ride was smooth and gentle. Luna watched outside from the glass window.

Luna could see the huge gates of the mansion. Two lions were engraved on the door.

This would be her first time coming to the Lord's house so she couldn't help but admire the mansion.

They were two fountains opposite each other and a lovely garden that had rows of flowers.

On one of those rows was a type of flower that was very rare, the midnight blossom.

Luna had read about them in the next town's library as their town didn't have one, and she had always wanted to see one.

The flowers were believed to have the same effect that a full moon had on the creatures on the lands.

They were a lot of carriages that were parked. Some had a family crest that Luna immediately recognized whilst some didn't.

She could see the prestigious family crest of the Black family and also the white family's crest on some of the carriages.

Luna held her dress and tried her best to walk as gracefully as the other guests did. Everyone just looked so fancy.

Her dress sparkled when the light from the candle reflected on it which had most guests staring at her.

Luna couldn't believe it. She had done her best to avoid attention but here she was receiving confusing Stares from the guests.

"Who is she?" Luna could hear a wan dressed in a fancy red dress say.

" I don't think she belongs to the high society. I haven't heard a word about her."

Luna tried her best to ignore the gossip but couldn't they at least speak undertone? How shameless!

"Luna!" Luna looked up to see a young woman running towards her.

" Gina! I've missed you so much." The two girls shared a tight hug that surprised the guests. Gina was never the one to mingle with people, she usually did her best to avoid coming into contact with people, but here she was hugging a stranger so tightly.

"I think she knows her." One of the gossips whispered into the other's ear.

" Of course she does. Isn't it obvious?"With a roll of her eyes, she sipped the blood in her glass.

"I missed you too. How long has it been?" The two broke the hug.

"16 years"Luna laughed over it. Time trully flies.

" You haven't changed too much but you have become more beautiful." Gina complimented with a smile on her face.

"Thank you. You look beautiful yourself."

The guests continued to shamelessly stare. Some would occasionally whisper to each other saying God knows what.

"We have a lot to catch up on, but not in here" Gina looked around," I think we have entertained the guests enough."She giggled and dragged Luna to her room.

...

The lord had a bored look on his face as he held a glass of wine. He looked at the men that had surrounded him uttering some rubbish he didn't bother to listen to.

Among the three men that were around him, he could only spot one sane and quiet person, The lord of Vermen.

Though he would smile occasionally at the nonsense the others were saying, Lord Nicholas could see he was faking it.

Lord Nicholas didn't bother to entertain them, not like they needed his entertainment. They were too busy talking about women and fortune to notice his uninterested expression.

"Nicholas."

The Lord looked over his shoulders to see Lucas holding a glass of wine in his hand. "Luna has arrived won't you great her."Lucas asked grinning.

He knew since they were kids that his brother had affection for Luna. It was obvious he was right because the next thing the Lord did was to excuse himself and head towards his sister and Luna.

" Nicholas." The lord turned to see a man with bright red eyes and black hair that became grey at the edges calling out to him.

"I'm glad you could make it, Desmond."The Lord said to the man that just nodded these words.

There were only two people apart from his siblings that didn't bother to add his title to his name when calling him. Desmond black and his sister Zoey Black.

It didn't bother him though because those two were like cousins to him and his siblings.

The lord had a small smile on his face, one that was genuine and not faked like the one he used with others," And who do we have here?" He asked staring at the woman beside Desmond.

"She's my fiancée. Did I forget to mention that?" Desmond grinned looking at the lord.

The lord didn't look surprised," I heard."

Desmond just nodded. That was to be expected. He had a hint already that the lord would vetbto know about this. As long as one ear hears it others are also bound to hear it.

"Stella right?"

" Yes, Milord." The girl gave a bow.

"I hope you enjoy the party.." The Lord said and was about to go away before he paused, "Where is Zoey? I'd like her to meet someone"

Desmon raised a brow wondering who the lord was talking about, "She is over there."

"Would you like to meet Gina?"The lord's sudden question to Stella left her startled. Who would have thought the lord would ask her to meet his sister?

" Yes, I would, Milord," Stella answered a little proud that she managed to say those words without stuttering.

"Drop the title, your fiancé doesn't bother so I think you shouldn't too."

...

Gina sat Luna on her bed and looked at her carefully," I've been working on my elemental ability and I think I have gotten a lot better." She said excitedly.

Though she was a wolf nobody they didn't trust knew about it. She and her brothers were not only wolves but Hansonians, yes the very same creatures that the human envied and despised.

Her mother was a Hanson Iann whole her father was an alpha wolf. Being the hybrid of two completely different creatures made it a little bit difficult for Gina to master her elemental ability.

She had water as her elemental ability and she had been trying her best to master how to control it. Another reason why she had difficulties was that she wasn't with any Hansonians apart from her brothers and they only knew as much as she did when it came to matters of this sort.

Gina took a glass of water and place it on the table. She stretched her hand towards the glass and the water in it slowly started to rise. The water began to take the form of objects that Gina concentrated on.

"Try making weapons," Luna suggested.

Gina concentrated on making an arrow, but then she noticed an arrow made of water wouldn't cause much damage so she made the water lose temperature until it was solid ice.

The arrow imitated the movement of Gina's hand, following every movement she made.

" Let's see how much damage it can make" Gina swung her hand towards the door and the ice arrow moved at such a speed that it would surely puncture the door.

Just when the arrow was about to hit the door someone opened it.

It was her brother, the Lord of Riverdale.

...

The lord led Zoey and Stella to meet his sister and Luna. He wanted them to get close, not that Zoey didn't know Gina. The two girls were very close. Zoey even knew that the lord and his brother and sister were not only wolves but Hansonians.

When the lord reached Gina's door, he just opened it without knocking. He would have knocked if he didn't know that his sister had a guest over, but he was sure it was safe to open the door without knocking.

The first thing the Lord saw was an ice arrow that was speeding towards him and the horrified faces of Luna and Gina.

Firstly thanks for reading this far.

From one of the reviews I saw someone ask about the vampires.

Vampires in this book reside in a different land, not the one Lord Nicholas rules.

Unlike the humans at Riverdale, the ones at where Desmond Black stays are accepting towards the vampire or more like they were forced to.

I'll write more on Desmond Black in another book.

Thank you.
