Ten minutes is a lifetime and the walk down the path feels like an eternity.
I had to stop Lucas from leaving the beach house three times before we finally decided together time was up.
The light of the fire flickers between the trees as we get closer to the beach. When we step into the clearing, Lucas and I stop in our tracks at the sight before us.
Our Jayne.
Two excruciating weeks without her and here she is. I missed her touch, her lips, her smell, all of her so much. I didn't realize how much my heart ached without her until this moment when the sight of her released my pain and I can't seem to swallow this lump in my throat.
Howard is holding her as she sobs into his shirt and, although I want to give them a moment, my need to take care of her is consuming me. Just as I prepare to step out and takeover, Lucas's voice calls out from beside me.
"Jayne?"
She sucks in some air at the sound of her name and my body jolts to life as her eyes settle on us.
