Chapter 32: Quentin Tarantino
Thursday morning, Alex woke up tiredly off his bed, it was currently four thirty a.m in the morning. The first thing Alex did was drink some water from his blue bottle that he grabbed off the left side of his bed side table. Finishing half of the two liter blue bottle, before getting off the bed standing in the middle of the room.
Alex than began doing some light yoga stretches while still in his underwear just after getting off the bed. Before slowly increasing the intensity, until he his body began to warm up and sweat a little. After which he began doing 50 push up and other intensive body exercises for an hour and thirty minutes.
Having his own room for the first time he felt really happy about it, not that he disliked sharing a room with his older brother.
The two of them were old enough to have their own separate rooms by now, so it was an understandable feeling. After Alex spent an hour thirty minutes working out, he finally stop while taking deep breathes. After which he putt on a bathing towel around his waist and leaving his room.
Alex walked passed Harry room before entering the bathroom. The bathroom here was much nicer than the one back at his house and it was a little bigger as well.
Standing in front of the mirror above the bathroom sink, Alex started brushing his teeth. Rubbing the back of his head to get rid of a slight itch he had, Alex began thinking about the day ahead, after finishing cleaning his teeth he entering the shower.
Back in Brooklyn six a.m in morning in the backyard, the rest of Williams family were getting ready for their now usual run. As Oliver stretched out he noticed his wife was a little out of it. She been falling in a little of a dazed out as of lately, whenever she was with the whole family.
It's had only been two days since Alex left to stay with his brothers family. And Oliver flet like he needed to do something about his wife emotions. It had also been like this when Alex was in the hospital but, she could still go to check up on him at any time as often as she wanted.
But going to see Alex, as regular as she did at the hospital wouldn't be good, especially in front of his brother family. He needed to think of a better solution to fix this and get her to have more confidence in their son.
Alex previous condition before the accident had made all of them particularly more attentive towards Alex. Even now they were all still as attentive towards Alex to a lesser degree than back then.
Back with Alex in New York as he was heading to meet with the producer and director, who he'd be working with on the film Saw. There are certain key differences between a director and a producer.
A producer is responsible for all aspects of a film's production. This includes fundraising, budgeting, scheduling, and supervising the day-to-day running of the production.
A director on the other hand has more creative control over what is in front of the camera – where to place it, which angles to use and how best to frame shots. Directors are involved with every aspect of filmmaking from writing scripts to editing footage but their job starts once filming begins.
Director are also responsible for employees, hiring new staff, providing feedback on their performance and determining salaries and benefits pack theorizing.
Then there's the film producer their responsibility is to decide which films will be made. They are the creative's partner who knows how to produce their vision for the world.
One important responsibility of a film producer is to oversee the budget for each production. This includes making sure that all costs are accounted for and that no money is wasted.
They work closely with the director to help manage the production of a film from start to finish. They oversee all aspects of the project, including budgeting, scheduling, casting, location scouting, and much more.
They both work together to make sure the project comes out great but they can act independently if needed too.
Becoming a film producer is not easy. A producer's responsibilities vary depending on the type of production they are working on but generally, they are responsible for overseeing all aspects of a project from start to finish.
Usually films have multiple producers to split the responsibilities, so as to split the work load, if you wanted to have a successful film.
Alex was working as a co-producer on the film his only job was to advise the director and producer on certain aspects of the project. Alex role wasn't that big but, he would be still credited like rest regardless.
There also the executive producer sits at the very top of the production totem pole. Since they provide and manage the funding for a film project (either directly or indirectly), they inherently hold a great deal of influence over a film. Currently Harry acted as the executive producer on Saw, as he wanted to make sure Alex wasn't snuffed out of the production completely.
Alex was only thirteen this year, so him being a co producer on a film was odd. It would have made more sense if he was a child actor on the film instead.
Alex finally met up with Stevenson Michelle the lead producer on the film and Quentin Tarantino who was set to direct. Alex had previously suggested to his cousin Harry to put, out a word that they were hiring director to help flim a certain movie script for them.
And to those willing directors they would allow them to shoot their own film script under, an unspecified budget in the Hollywood newspaper not exceeding 800000 US dollars. Harry had loved the idea as it provided them a chance to look at potentially good movies scripts.
As Harry current focus now was on establishing the new Fire Foxx Television station, as a major player in the movie making business. As a mini-major studios which are the larger, independent film production companies that are smaller than the five major movie studios who attempted to compete directly with them. ( For example Lionsgate and MGM)
Harry had hoped at the time that they could maybe stumble upon a future talent. Harry went through many of those script himself until he stabled upon Reservoir Dogs. He had honestly liked the script and thought it was within the budget for the company.
After which Harry called Alex to came over to show him the script. They both emphasize what type of script they were looking for since, they needed someone who could possibly direct a horror film. If they couldn't find any they would then have to look for any cheap director to make the film.
They only currently had five hundred thousand to work with, so they had no choice in the matter. After Alex first saw the name of the script, he already knew who the person was. And had no objection in him directing Saw as he could likely do a good job due to his future film chronology.
Quentin Jerome Tarantino (born March 27, 1963) was a American film director, writer, producer, and actor in the future. His films were characterized by their stylized violence, extended dialogue including a pervasive use of profanity, and references to popular culture.
Tarantino began his career as an independent filmmaker with the release of the crime film Reservoir Dogs in 1992. American neo-noir crime film written and directed by Quentin Tarantino as his feature-length debut. Which stared Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Chris Penn, Steve Buscemi, Lawrence Tierney, Michael Madsen, Tarantino, and Edward Bunker as diamond thieves whose heist of a jewelry store goes terribly wrong.
At this point in time Tarantino had already released a few low budget indie films. Alex finally met up with Quentin Tarantino, who is currently only 24 years old.
He was dressed up in a Hawaiian t-shirt with long black pants and shoes. He and Stevenson were in the recreated set of the disturbing bathroom, where two of the main character are trapped inside.
" Hey, Alex I finally see you decided to show up." Greeted Tarantino a little sarcastically, Tarantino didn't like the fact that Alex, had been busy working on game project instead of his own written script.
Tarantino is a big movie lover and had been working in a movie department store before, receiving their offer after they read his own script Reservoir Dogs.
The first time Alex and Tarantino met they had gotten off to great start, talking on about how the movie was to be shot. Tarantino even asked for Alex permission to add his own dialog to the movie's script, to better reflect his own writing style in the scripts.
Which Alex agree to however, most of the script original dialog between characters remained nearly the same, except for some dialog scenes that were in the original.
Tarantino had only been a little surprised of learning how old Alex was, Alex height would often confuse most people about his actually age. Due to his facial appearance which, is on the younger side, most people he met assumed he was at least in his last year of high school.
Alex smiled at Tarantino words, Alex didn't think he's and Tarantino relationship would take a bad turn because of his other commitments. Mostly likely if he was working on another movie instead Tarantino wouldn't be this pensive towards him.
Tarantino thought of movies as an art forum and he had really liked Alex story for Saw, as it was a little similar to how he wanted to shoot Reservoir Dogs.
Which would be shot like most of his future films following different characters, while switching between different periods in time throughout the film. Well in this film it was usually done as flash back.
When Alex had decided to step away to make a video game, it had really been upsetting for someone like Tarantino. However, Tarantino wasn't outright discriminatory towards Alex, he was just unhappy with Alex putting most of his attention on a video game.
Alex flet this situation wouldn't be good for himself and especially Fire Foxx production studios going forward. Hence, he was now trying to find away to fix their relationship, the filming of Saw would only take at most twenty day's, not including post-production. Most of the set stages would be completed in a few days.
As well as the props used in the movie like Jigsaw elaborate death traps, that appeared in the movie like the reversed bear trip. They could have begun shooting the film right away, if they had finished the casting all the characters in the movie.
Alex didn't want to postpone Mortal Kombat either. Alex decided that it was imperative that they build a good working relationship here, especially with someone like Tarantino. " Hey, how's everything going, we're there any actors that caught your eye during the casting call?"
Asked Alex with a smile on his face, which softed the atmosphere between the two of them. Stevenson and Robert, Alex attended and secret bodyguard who Daniel had hired, to follow and take care of Alex around the production site. Decided to move to the side as they could tell Alex wanted to speak with Tarantino privately.
Robert was a tall caucasian man with an imposing built, he had an average face and didn't speak much, wearing a black suit and tie. Stevenson on the other hand was a short middle aged man around fourty who had been working as a tv producer for Fire Foxx Television station for few years now.
" A few, caught my eye " Answered Quentin dispassionately.
Alex and Tarantino stood inside the recreated bathroom in the first Saw film. "Uhmm, Quentin you seemed to be displeased with me. May I know the reason? " Alex asked the questions as if he didn't already know the reason.
"Oh, why would you think that? Don't worry about it, your a kid so don't think too much. It's just my attitude changes a little when I'm about to start filming." Spoke Tarantino quickly, while trying to quickly change the topic.
Alex furrow his brows, he was becoming a little annoyed by Quentin attitude, but he decided that it wasn't worth getting to upset over it. Hollywood is filled with a sort of people with eccentric individuals, with big egos behind and in front of the camera.
He needed to learn how to get used to this type of individual and along with others he would need to keep a great distance from himself. If he didn't want to get into some illegal activities, however Alex didn't think Tarantino is like those type of individuals.
He was just a stubborn person when it came to filmmaking, all he needed to do was to fix their relationship.
" Look I know the reason why you're upset with me, but I really respect you and I trust in your ability to make this script a reality. However, you and I are different in the why we approach filmmaking."
Tarantino was a little surprised by Alex words and he flet a little immature, by his behavior towards Alex. Alex continued speaking in a clear and respectful tone he didn't want to make Tarantino feel bad. Which could worse'n things even further.
" I just want to say that you and I have our own path to follow. And I don't want either of our actions to effect each other in the future. "
Hearing Alex words Tarantino understood he was being, a little unreasonable. He, himself had been struggling to get his own vision of his script excepted. Approaching many people to help him make his own film and when, they wanted him to make some changes he refused.
This had gone on for several months until he read an article in the Hollywood newspaper. At first he hesitate to go as he thought that since it was an unheard-of studios they were just looking to hire a cheap director to make their film.
Then after it was done they would try to make some excuses or scheme to not help finance his script. However, he decided to take the chance and came to the studios to offered up his script.
After a few days he finally got a call to come over and to bring a lawyer if he had one, which had surprised him. And just like that he was now standing here ready to director a horror film as his directorial debut.
" I'm.. sorry. " Said Tarantino after listening to Alex. Tarantino understood the kid had his own journey to follow, but that didn't mean he had to so unreasonable.
By directed this film and the other part didn't go back on their word according to the contract. He decided that he would try help in any way he could because of the opportunity offered to him.
After hearing Tarantino apologize Alex heart lifted and relax. " No, no it's ok. I'm sorry as well for speaking to ." Said Tarantino as he laughed, he really flet like he was the immature one of the two and like that the two's relationship became less irritable.
As they cleared their misunderstanding as Stevenson and Robert watched them.
" Are you sure Alex only thirteen? " Asked Stevenson looking at Robert, who only nodded his head as he also thought of how mature Alex is.
