Chapter 43: A Cast of Friends
As Duke and Alex were awoken from there sleep. Duke quickly climbed off the top bunk bed, Duke gestured with his hand rised, to stop Alex from going outside first.
Alex seeing Duke's hand gesture, stopped in his track's. Alex calculated that it was now currently two o'clock in the morning using his mental clock, even though the lights were off the two of them could still see each other. Duke cautiously opened the door and looked outside to see what was happening.
As Duke looked out the door, he quickly noticed his father coming out of the room, turning on the corridors lights. Before walking towards his sisters bedroom door, knocking on it.
Upon seeing this, Duke opened the bedroom door wider. Calling out to his father, Duke wanting to understand what all the ruckus is about. "Dad what's with all the hurry. "
[Oliver POV]
Just two minutes ago Martha had gotten a phone call in middle of the night, on their bedroom telephone informing them. That Helena is currently now in labor and was going into deliver.
After Martha received this call she literally jumped out, of their bed and began hurriedly rushing to get dressed. Before telling him about, the news she had just gotten as she frantically got dressed.
Oliver quickly got dressed, than went out to inform their children about the news, as he waited for Martha to quickly get dressed. Stepping out their room he to inform walking straight towards his daughters room, which is directly opposite to theirs.
Hearing Duke's voice, Oliver turned his head to the side only to find Duke's head staring out the door. As he was about to answer his son question. He heard Ashley voice cautiously calling out. " Hello, who is it."
" It's me. You're aunt Helena is in labor, you're mother and I are leaving for the hospital." After this words the room went silent, Alex also peeked his head out the door after hearing this news. Now, both Duke and Alex head looked out the door, a little surprised by the news. Oliver found this site a little funny as both there heads peeked out.
Obviously this is because both Duke and Alex only wearing their underwear hence, the two didn't leave the room. Only peeking out their heads instead. After hearing the news the door to the girls quickly opened, revealing Ashley and Jennifer who wore their pajamas.
" Really? can I'm come with you. " Asked Ashley, as she looked at her father with an excited expression on her face. " Hey, I want to go to, can I." Jennifer add, after hearing Ashley request to go with their parents.
After the two sisters insisted on going with, their parents to see the baby's birth, the four of them quickly left for the hospital. Alex and Duke were left behind to look after the house, as they left for New York Pesrytain Hospital located in upper Manhattan.
Several hours went by before, Duke and Alex received a call from their father, informing them that they have just welcomed a new member to the family. A boy named Benjamin Alexander Williams, born on May 29th 1988. In NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital upper Manhattan making the little guy American.
After that Duke and Alex we're later, picked up by David and Michael who was already in the car, Maria and Gabriella had already been dropped off earlier in the night. As Helena went into labor which they, we're informed about, by Martha.
The two boys, later learned that Donna had also gone earlier in the morning, along with Damien to the hospital, while leaving Grey in charge of looking after his two siblings.
David explained to Duke and Alex about, how the delivery went. Which according to the doctor in charge of the delivery, said it was a successful delivery with no complications. Hearing this Alex, was relieved to hear that, his father had previously just to inform them of the news of the birth.
And hadn't gone into any details on how things went, just that both were doing fine. Helena is thirty-five years old, which according to research done on child bearing at this age, the risk of complications went up.
As Alex set in the backseat of the car listening, he and everyone else listened to the radio. The journey took only thirty minutes to arrive at the hospital, Alex got out of the vehicle with everyone else.
David than led the three of them two the room where, Helena rested. They quickly meet up with Gabriella, Jennifer and Ashley who were heading heading back to the room carrying snacks.
" Oh, the three of you actually came?" Asked Jennifer who had been unaware of Duke, Alex and Michael coming over. " Yeah, we all came to see the baby. " Retorted Duke, as if it is the most obvious thing to do.
" Ah.. well, Dad said well be living in an hour, mom going to be spending time in the hospital to look after aunt Helena and the baby. " Explained Jennifer, wanting to change the topic.
Even though the were no complications during the delivery, the doctor suggested that Helena and the baby stay in the hospital for at least three days before going home. Just to make sure the two were completely fine, and ready to leave the hospital after further observation.
" Alright, let's go see the baby and the mother. We all can't stay here the whole day the two are going to need some rest. " David said, gesturing for the all to go inside the room.
Upon entering the hospital room, Alex found his mother criterling the newborn baby in her arms, as Maria and Donna chatted with to Helena who seemed very tired. She had just delivered the baby two hours ago, but from the looks of it she seemed pretty will.
The woman in the room quickly noticed the, newcomers to the room. " Boys, did you come to see the new members of the family." Helena asked with a happy, yet tired smile on her face as she saw, the three boys enter the room.
" You look tired." Said Alex, withe joking tone as he walked to his mother's side, as Duke said Michael followed behind. "Ah.. haha, what you with delivery a baby is easy. " Laughed, Helena as she replied to Alex, joke with an amused expression.
" Well, sadly we'll never." Alex answered with sigh, turning to his brother and Michael, looking at the two of them with sad expression. Only to receive dumb founded, looks from the both of them, as the two wonder what Alex is going on about.
" Yeah, what with that expression, Duke tell you're little brother to stop looking at me like that. " Michael spoke, while hitting Duke on his shoulder to do something.
Duke only looked, back Michael with there's nothing I can do expression plastered on his face. Chuckle escaped from everybody in the room, especially Helena who seemed a little more rejuvenated. By the three boys interactions.
" Alright, that enough are the three of you going to keep playing around, or do you actually meet the baby. " Chimed, Martha as she moved to hand over the new born, back to his mother to properly introduce him to the three boys.
" Right, of course that why we came here for." Said Alex, like he just remembered the reason they came here for. Slamming his clenched fist into his palm.
" Alright, boys can I now finally introduce to all of your new friend. " Asked Helena, as she held her new born baby in her arms, who was still sleeping.
All three boys, moved closer to the bed to get a better, look at the new members of the family. Donna and Maria slightly moved to the side, to help allow the boys have a better view of the new born, in Helena's arms.
Maria held onto Michael's shoulder, as he stood in front of her a long with Alex and Michael. " Alright, than Alex, Duke, Michael... I'd like you to all meet Benjamin Alexander William.
Introduce Helena as she lovingly looked at her son, who had only just entered into the world for a few hours now. " Hey, there buddy, it's you're big brother Alex talking, and in the future we'll have lots of fun together. Spoke Alex, in a loving and gentle voice.
The little guy who was only if hours old made a cute, little " Ahh.." sound as if responding to Alex. Everyone smiled at this cute little interaction, between the two.
Duke standing beside, Alex moved closer and gently grabbed the little guys followed fist. The three boys had already, sanitized their hands before entering the room.
Oliver and Damien also entered the room later, everyone stayed in the hospital for ten more minutes. Before everyone began, departing as Helena was clearly exhausted and wanted time to rest.
Daniel came into the room finding that everyone was beginning to depart for the door. All accepted for Martha who, had decided to stay with Helena and the baby, during there three day stay in the hospital.
Alex, Duke and Michael all congratulated Daniel and Helena, before finally leaving the hospital room. Alex left in his father, leaving his mother at the hospital, as he wanted to stay with his family until Monday.
The next day, Monday Alex took the time to, personally hear and look at the progress of Star Horizon. As well Blue Star Interactive, progress on their other game title, before leaving back for New York Manhattan.
With his father who wanted to, personally drop him off himself. Alex flet that things were, really starting to look up for all of them.
The next day, Alex sat in an audition room with the original showrunners and director of Friends. Marta Fran Kauffman, David Crane and executive producer Kevin S. Bright.
Alex was now busier than ever, as he worked on Mortal Kombat as well as Saw, which had begun filming yesterday, helping in the development.
At this moment in time, none of these people in the room with him had any fame and recognition. Hence, when Fire Foxx production studios offered them a olive branch, they didn't have any not to accept.
Even though Fire Foxx production, wasn't a famous television station.The new set location was now currently under construction, Alex supervised and replicate the original set of Friends, as much as possible.
Using his memories of every detail of the original set layout is perfect but, obviously some things would ultimately be different.
Some of the things used in the original didn't exist yet. Right, now Alex was currently setting in the audition room, looking at one of the original actors Matthew Perry. Who played the role Chandler Bing in the original Friends.
Alex knew about, Matthew Perry's alcohol addiction during his time on Friends, which hadn't affect his portrayal of Chandler on camera. However, Alex hoped that this wouln't be the case this time around, hopefully he could somehow change things here for the actor.
"And I wish, I had a million dollars." Said Matthew Perry as he played out, the since in the original pilot of friends. They were currently reenacting the scene from pilot episode of Friends.
Four out of the six original cast members, were currently in the audition room audition for their roles. With Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and Courtney Cox.
Most of the original cast members of Friends were all now currently, in their early twenties at this moment in time. Thought Alex in his mind, he had already made relatively small changes to the story, while keeping it relatively the same.
Lisa Kudrow was the oldest cast members with, Jennifer Aniston being the youngest at only nineteen. This wouldn't affect the series much, with the exception of the cast members current lake of lots of acting experience.
Which didn't really matter as many television series would usually hire a blend of young and old unknown, talented actors and actresses for their show.
As long as they had have ability to handle their roles in the series themselves, everything else depended on the production team.
David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston were yet to arrive and were absent, the two who were currently the most unknown. Jennifer Aniston had only appeared in an uncredited role in the 1988 film Mac and Me.
The crew had already told Alex, that they had finally made contact with the actress a few days ago. The audition would period last for three weeks, so Alex wasn't too concerned.
" What do you all think?" Asked Alex, after the participants left the audition room. As he looked at the showrunners Marta Fran Kauffman, David Crane and producer director Kevin S. Bright, who currently in the room along with him.
In 1993, Bright entered a partnership with Marta Kauffman and David Crane to form Bright/Kauffman/Crane Productions and began a development deal with Warner Bros. Television to produce the comedy series Friends. He also directed 60 episodes of the series, including the series finale.
It seems that the three had known each other for a long time now. So Alex didn't need to spend any time, helping get these people together for this project. All three of them had some experience in the television circle but, weren't that well known at this time.
Alex never thought it would have been possible to get, all three of these individual together, under Fire Foxx Television productions.
" I think we should wait on hiring those four participants right away. There still three to four weeks left until the audition end, and shooting needs to begin." David Crane, spoke going through the audition in his mind.
The chemistry between the four, wasn't bad as they seemed to really get into their characters, as the four went through the audition together. It's like they slowly begin to feed off each other as they did the scene.
"If we can find better and more experienced actors for roles. I hope you can reconsider your casting chooses kid, if a much more experience actors joins the audition."
Add Bright, as David Crane and Marta Fran Kauffman nodded their heads in agreement. "Well, I think the chemistry between the cast members, is the most important and actors can always improve with the right help and guidance." Said Alex, after that comment the audition continued.
After the first round off audition ended, Alex handed towards the set where Friends would be shot, to see how the progress was going.
Before heading towards another part of the set, as he was escorted by his attended Robert. Responsible for looking after Alex, when on the set and driving him around when needed.
After checking the progress of the filming of Saw, and exchanging a few words with Tarantino. Alex, also met and spoke with Samuel L.Jackson who had landed the role of Detective Tapp.
As from what Tarantino said, he is the only actor that they flet, give the best performance. Even though, his temperament doesn't match what they had been looking for originally. According to the characters written by, Alex himself wrote.
Alex promptly left the shooting loction and as much, as Alex wanted to witness Quentin Tarantino shooting style.
He didn't have the time as he went back to work on Mortal Kombat with his team. Alex had currently too many things to do, as he wanted to finish working with the actors for Mortal Kombat.
Alex calculated that it wouldn't take more than two weeks to finish shooting, everything with the actor for the Mortal Kombat game. Alex would than have a little more time to work alongside Quentin Tarantino on Jigsaw.
Quentin had already made three straight to video short films, under his blet using a home bought camera. So he only had a little more experience than Alex, who only had the basic knowledge but, little to no hands on experience.
Meanwhile, at an airport a youthful woman with brown golden hair that stack out here and there. With light blue eyes and a pretty face with slightly cubby cheeks.
Got off a plane with a few bag's of luggage. This young woman is Jennifer Aniston, one of the original cast members of Friends. Who at these point in time was only nineteen years old this year.
She wore a white shirt, with brown pants, with a pair of black slippers. She also one of the only member of the original cast, to have a fairly successful transition from television to theatrical.
Jennifer quickly got off the plane with her luggage, as she prepared to get off the plane. As she was about to get off the plane, she heard a familiar voice calling out to her.
" Hey, wait up." Said a tall man standing around 1.85 meters in height, with black hair and dark brown eyes. A long nose with droopy eyebrows overall he had an average face. As he quickly ran up to Aniston, pulling a large suite case.
However, if Alex saw this scene he would be greatly surprised by the current development. The man approached the Aniston, who patiently waited for the man to catch up to her in the hallway.
Who she became acquainted with, on the flight here from Los Angeles. "Jennifer, I just wanted to ask if, you've already found a hotel to stay at, in New York for the time being." Asked the man.
" Not yet, but may I ask the reason you're asking David. " Replied Jennifer, while asking her new acquaintance.
If you all haven't figured out yet, who this man is already. It's David Schwimmer himself, the actor who played Ross Gellar in the original Friends.
" I just wanted to say, that if you don't have any place to stay for the time being, I could help you find a place if need be. " Said Schwimmer, as he wanted to help the young lady who he become acquainted with.
Unlike Jennifer Aniston who was a up and coming actress, who had to work part-time to provide for herself. David Schwimmer was in a much better situation compared to most upcoming actors and actresses.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theater and speech, from the Northern University. Where after graduating co-founded Lookingglass Theater Company.
The two had coincidentally met on the plane to New York City, for an audition they had both been call to attend. By a small unknown television station located here for a new, television series.
Which they both found strange especially Jennifer Aniston herself. As she didn't think she was well known enough, even by a relatively small unknown television station to be called for an audition.
What was even more surprising to the two of them, who had only known each other for a few hours. Is that they had both been, called to audition for roles in the same television series.
" I deeply thank you for your consideration but, I'll be fine on my own. " Aniston Rejected, Davids offer as politely as she could. Not wanting to get involved with a man who she just met, on a plane for the first time.
David did not insist more on this topic but, escorted her out off the airport, as they both left top get a cab. The two separated after getting into different taxi's and saying goodbye for now. In the future the two would both discuss about, this encounter with one another often.
