Chapter 29: Discussion
After Alex laid out his punishment he decided to listen to everyone progress on DOOM, and the problem some where having with the game. Sadly Alex couldn't listen to everyone's complaints and progress after his sister Jennifer came inside to pick him up.
When she walked in all the attention fell on her, most of them couldn't stop admiring her beauty. Alex not wanting to waste any time hurriedly left after seeing her entering the living room. Leaving Michael and Mark to handle the rest as he left dragging his sister away quickly.
" Hey, Uhmm. Marvin who was that? " Eric one of the newly joined members of the team. He was good friends with Marvin and had finally decided to make the trip here after finally playing Castle Wolfenstein 3D for himself.
" That's the bosses older sister, you can easily tell by their eyes. And don't have any thoughts of trying anything with her she totally out of your league. She way taller than you too if you were to stand next to her. " Add Marvin finally.
"Hey, what's with the rush, I wanted to see what you guys have been up to." Spoke Jennifer, who was a little frustrated at being hurriedly pulled out of the room without any warning.
"I don't want you distracting everyone in the room with your looks." Replied Alex holding Jennifer by the hand as they quickly left. Honestly the first time Gray met his sisters he was barely able to concentrate on any thing else, occasionally gazing out into space from time to time.
Alex didn't want to know what kind of thoughts were running through Gray head. Alex was already used to this type of thing by now, he was now able understanding certain things he would have been oblivious to before his accident. He just didn't want to deal with people asking him to put, in a good word for them with either of his three siblings.
That was one of the things most people asked him to do for them, after getting close to him at school. It became really annoying having to put, up with this types of issues, he honestly sometimes wished that they all just had average appearances. Thankfully most people were more tactful.
After entering the car, Alex found his mother in the front passager seat. While Duke set in the back, reading a book on computer science. Entering the back seat, Alex greeted both of them before taking out a book to read as well from his own bag.
Alex was already well ahead of the classes content, he currently just needed to do is finish up the assignments, he had missed by the end of the week. After chatting with his family in the car ride. They finally arrived at the at his father office building. They mostly listened how their mother finally day of work was like at the day care center while on the road.
The original plan was for her to find a better paying job after she got her accounting certificate, somewhere else, not working under their father accountanting firm. It was planned that way in the case something ever happened to the firm or their father.
But, for now they had all decided to go all in with Alex business plan. It was around five p.m when they all arrived. Oliver came out to meet every one before they all went to his office, where Ashley was already waiting.
" So did something come up that you called for every one to come here. " Asked Martha as she took a seat on a comfy chair.
"Yes, for two reasons." Oliver said while nodding head. Seeing everyone taking there seats and getting comfortable. He continued, "There are many more banks that have approached me wanting to know more about the online payment service method. And have showed knee interest in it."
Currently there were about six banks that Oliver had already made a deal with, in allowing the use of the online payment service for the transfer funds, after making a purchase online. And more banks have begun approaching him to get involved and hopefully invest in this system and allow for the usage of this type of payment method.
Oliver explained the current situation to the rest of the family. "I see, so what's the plan from here." Spoke Duke.
"I'm not entirely sure about this but, from my on research I don't think we should be looking for investors now. Especially with uncle Daniel helping us out, and I'm not too sure how well Alex book is currently doing now. So I'm of the opinion that we take a wait and see approach for now when it comes to outside investment. "
Alex nodded to Duke words giving him a thumbs up in his heart. Alex decided to give his own thoughts on the matter as well. " I'm in agreement with brothers words, we should take a wait and see approach first. We also don't want to bring in outside influence into the our business so early. It's better for us to first gain a stable foothold first and when it's time to look for outside investment we won't be at a disadvantage in negotiation."
Explain Alex, looking around the room at the surprise expression of his family members. His father expression was a little different which Alex couldn't read.
"Investors are like a double-edged sword, they can be very helpful for starting up new businesses, but if we're not careful they can be the ones to take over our entire business. Just look at what happened to Steve Jobs with Apple." Continued Alex.
Every one looked at Alex, with surprise as they didn't know, Alex also knew so much about business and investment.
"Wow.. that pretty impressive Alex where did you learn all that from." Exclaimed Jennifer ruffling Alex hair in the process. After which everyone talked fervently about the situation about the online payment system.
Currently it wasn't an issue for them to run things themselves explained Alex. They didn't need many people for the job, concerning the online payment system. As long as they reached an adequate agreement with the banks.
Alex also brought up the topic, of hiring more people to help with Star Horizon in the near future after, Oliver brought up the topic.
He didn't say the exact number of people needed, since he couldn't be sure how many orders they would be receiving a day. Most people still likely didn't have reliable internet connection in various areas like they did, Alex knew that. Their were still many challenges such as internet connection and speed in many places across the US.
The early 90s when the great internet boom would take off ,like a rocket is when the real money for Star Horizon would really begin. Alex only concerns was, Jeff Bezas who would most likely be there biggest competitor in the future. Amazen might also come into existence much earlier than in the previous timeline.
Oliver spoke about how he had organized a meeting with, Daniel their uncle this Friday as well. And with that the family all went back home together, Oliver and Martha had made it a point not to discuss about work topic at home. There was the occasional talk here and there too relive pent-up stress with each other, but when with the rest family that was off topic.
The week went by smoothly for the Williams family, until the day off the meeting arrived which was held at Oliver office building. Alex, Duke, Oliver, Daniel met all together with another person joining in Oliver office.
Harry who set right next to Daniel, Alex was quickly able to recognized him immediately from his memories.
He remembered meeting this person a few times before when he was four and six years old in his memories. Daniel hurriedly reintroduce Harry, who had grown up a lot to every one, Alex was surprised to learn that Harry was currently the one representing his Uncle television productions studio.
[HARRY POV]
Harry greeted everyone happily, he was excited to see Alex and Duke, but especially Duke as they were good friends who had kept in touch with each other. Even with the eight year age, gap they became close friend who occasionally spoke on the telephone.
Flash back to two days prior Harry finally made up his decision after thinking about his future serious. He had spoken with his sister and read through the documents about the current situation of Fire Foxx.
Seating in the living room of his apartment he finally made his decision on what he wanted. Standing up from the sofa, Harry picked up the document and his apartment keys from the table in front of him before leaving.
He had spent a long time going through the document, his brother-in-law had handed him and knew the entire situation of the studio and the plan's Daniel made.
After ten minutes he finally arrived at his brother-in-law company building location, he hadn't come back here after Daniel brought him here the first time. Heading up stairs Harry went straight towards Daniel's office he noticing the secretary on a phoncall, he decided to wait until she finished her phone call.
However, he didn't have to wait long Mary told him to go right in after she noticed him. She had been told by her boss that the young man in front of her would be permitted to enter his office freely.
Whenever, Daniel wasn't seeing anyone in his office. Standing outside the door, Harry took in a deep breathes before gently knocking on the door.
"Come in." Getting permission to enter the room Harry went in. Daniel set on his office chair looking at some document, seeing it was Harry who entered the room. He immediately asked the questions that had been on his mind for the last two days.
" Have you finally made up your decision?" Harry nodded his head in reply. Daniel gestured for him to take a seat in front of him. Daniel was a little surprised that he had already made his decision so soon and was a little worried about Harry's answer.
Settling down on his seat, Harry looked straight into Daniel's ocean blue eyes and spoke in a clear and calm voice. " Before I give my answer I would like to first ask my own questions. If you would allow me."
" Of course this is your future were talking about here so don't hesitate and let me clear any of your doubts." Said Daniel leaning back in his chair as he spoke. He was very interested in what Harry wanted to talk about.
" Ok, Firstly I am a free to run the studio any way I like or am I here to only to follow your orders." Hearing those words, Daniel could tell that Harry had thought deeply about his offer and he was glad to see that.
" Well, your not free to do whatever you want since it's still my company. I myself can recommend a certain script or television series as well as business strategies being deployed. However, you can also make your own decisions to what type of content and strategies you want to make as well. Basically you and I are the final decision makers on everything concerning big decisions." Explained Daniel briefly.
" Basically I also have decision making power comparable to yours." Asked Harry
"Yes, I myself can recommend a series l'd like to see made, however since your the one running the company you have equal rights, in deciding what type of programs you'll like to make. You can even disagree with me on what I what you to make which, we can both discuss privately together."
"So, if I wanted to make a movie using the company resources could I." The room want quiet for a couple of seconds both of them staring at the other.
" A movie... I'm sure you know the yearly budget of Fire Foxx." Asked Daniel to which Harry silently nodded his head to.
"Alright, then if you can bring to me a feasible plan to make a movie within that budget, which won't disrupt the studio operation than I can agree to it." Answered Daniel after thinking deeply about it.
After hearing Daniel's words, Harry serious expression lighted as he let out a deep sigh, releasing all the tension with it. Observing Harry action Daniel relaxed as well.
" I accept your offer, for the job." After Harry spoke those words both men set up and shook hands.
" So, do you really want to make a movie?" Asked Daniel as he really wanted to know. To which Harry just smiled back, which was enough for Daniel to know the answer to the his question.
