Chapter 127: Troubled Times

Valerie welcomed Alicia in.

As though she hadn't been affected by what happened, Valerie's expression appeared nonchalant like always. 

Valerie had her decision set in stone, and that's why, other than her child's unhealthy condition, she didn't feel much burden.

Seeing how Valerie was about to go to the kitchen, Alicia grabbed her hand and asked, "What are you doing?"

"Getting you a drink," Valerie answered.

"Sit down," Alicia stated, "I am fine. I can get it on my own."

This made Valerie shoot Alicia a helpless look and say, "I am not at that much of a fragile state. I can manage to do these little things."

"Even so, we don't know when accidents might occur. That's why, it's best to be careful at times."

Without letting Valerie have a word more, the older woman guided her to the couch and helped her sit down. Alicia then sat down beside her and grabbed Valerie's hand.
