During the time he was at the hospital, he didn't want to still believe Valerie would do this to him. That day, she appeared so sinister. It was so unlike her. He didn't want to accept the reality.

Even when his parents asked about the one behind it, he refused to give Valerie's name.

On the day he got discharged, he sneakily listened to the conversation between his parents and the doctor. From there, he learned that he wouldn't be able to play basketball, at least for then as it would put stress on his hand.

This broke Lucian. Basketball was a huge part of his life. It was his dream. And without it, he would be completely lost.

That's when, they were selecting participants for interschool competition, and he knew that once he was out, getting in would almost be impossible with his hand being a liability. No one would select him anymore with the medical report.
