Chapter 55: The Hope

When Valerie was working the entire day, her thoughts were clouded with Lucian and his request from earlier. Although she tried to not indulge, it is easy to get lost in this sweetness and keep drowning while being unable to extricate herself. Even she was aware of the expectations rising inside her.

They couldn't be avoided. Valerie tried to ignore her feelings, but she lost that battle. That's why, she decided to go along with what Lucian wanted. Maybe there would be a good result from it.

With how things have been going these days, she could start being optimistic and see the silver lining.

That day, Valerie found herself unable to work long hours. She remembered how she gave Lucian her word to return home early. Although she chided herself mentally for having no self-control, she got out of the office early.
