Chapter 40: The Affair

"Talk to my assistant on it," Valerie casually dropped, catching both the girls off guard.

Laura's eyes widened, and she stared at Valerie in disbelief. Although Valerie was her patient for a long period of time, the relationship between them never crossed the line. Valerie treated her very professionally, and even during their sessions, Valerie hardly opened up.

This made Laura's eyes brighten up.

"Thank you."

"It would be an issue for me if you get in trouble," Valerie coldly pointed out, causing the corner of her lips to twitch.

Following that, Valerie went back to concentrating on her work. Once Laura had enough to drink, she bid her goodbye and was about to stumble through the door to leave when Valerie suggested her to stay at the guest room.

According to her words, she needed her psychiatrist to be alive.
