Edith rang the doorbell of Ethan's condo after changing cloths and freshen up, door opened with a click and Louis smiling face came in her view making her face bright instantly, Louis hair's were wet indicating he had just taken a bath, he smiled at Edith and said," Edie come, dad is making breakfast for us,".
Edith nodded and entered with a huge smile and thought while walking,'' Oh god seriously how shameless am I huh? Just because I wanted to play with kids I really ignored the fact that I'm inside the condo of the single father who my grandfather wanted to set me up, I can really marry him if he doesn't expect love from me and allow me to be a mother for them but that's impossible no man wants a wife who is not willing to love him and make relations with him and Mr. Smith really deserves a loving and doting wife,".
Ethan looked at Edith from the kitchen and saw that she was walking without looking ahead, he silently stared at her and soon enough she hit her legs from the table.
" Ouch," Edith said and held her legs while Ethan chuckled at her stupidness which caught Edith's attention and she glared at while saying," Not funny Mr. Smith,".
Ethan sealed his lips and said," Yeah sorry but look ahead while walking come breakfast is almost ready,".
Edith scoffed and said," Yeah," after that she walked towards the dining table and saw Maria already sitting there with an ipad and was focused in doing something in it and she was in a white frock which was coming to her knees while her long blond hair were wet and open making her look more adorable. Edith's eyes softened and she took a seat beside Maria.
She saw how busy Maria was and said," Mary, what are you doing?,".
Maria looked straight towards her eyes in confusion and said cutely," Huh? Mary?,".
Edith smiled and said," Yes you call me pretty Ed so now I will call you Mary, my cutie Mary,".
Louis and Ethan looked at them and said in unison," Mary,".
Maria pouted and said," Why? My name is Maria,".
Edith also pouted just like her and said dramatically," Oh but my name is also Edith but you call me Pretty Ed so why can't I call you Mary, you know Mary and Maria have the same meaning,".
While they were talking Ethan and Lucas also took their seats opposite to them as they sat at the chair they heard Maria's curious voice," Huh? Meaning? Names also have their meaning?,".
Edith was surprised by her words and asked," You don't know that every name has its meaning?, just like my name Edith it also has a specific meaning which is "Riches or Blessed,".
Ethan smiled at her words and said," Yeah I remember she named you Edith because for her you were the blessing she always asked for she used to say ' Ethan you know Jesus has blessed me in the form of Edith',".
Edith looked at him and smiled bitterly as she was the only one who does not remember anything about her own mother. Maria looked at Ethan and Edith and said," Daddy what is the meaning of your name? Why did Grandpa name you Ethan ? And what is the meaning of my name? and also Louis name?,".
Ethan took a deep breath at her questions and said," My name means 'Strong and Firm' dad named me Ethan because he always wanted me to join army and serve for my country just like your Great-Grandpa did, and your name means ' Star of the sea' Emmy and I named you Maria because for us you were the star in our beautiful sea who will always shine no matter what and will keep our beauty by your shine," after that he looked at Louis and said," Louis means ' Famous Warrior' his name has a very special place in my heart at first we wanted to name him Eros which means ' god of desire' but when Emmy gave birth to him he was very weak and the doctor said he is very weak there are very little chances for him to survive which completely broke us we were not ready for this but my boy was strong he did survive and is now totally healthy but then Emmy said she will name him Louis, a boy who is a Warrior and will survive in every situation and she was not wrong if we compare Maria and Louis he is the one who is more sensible and strong and he always look after Maria,".
Maria put her I-pad down and said," Daddy this is not right, I'm also very strong,".
Louis looked at his father and said," Yes dad Maria is also very strong,".
Ethan chuckled at their words and said," Ok ok both of you are strong now quietly do your breakfast Maria no more I-pad for 2 hours,".
Maria frowned and said," Daddy please no my drawing is still incomplete,".
Ethan shook his head and said," No, you can do it afterwards now leave,".
Maria pouted but still put her I-pad back and started to do her breakfast made by her daddy.
While having breakfast no one really talked as they all were focused on their food. As Ethan drank his water he noticed something and his eyes froze on that exact place.
Edith was eating when she sensed Ethan's hard stare on her so she looked at him with a frown and saw him staring at her neck with wide shocked eyes. She subconsciously touched her neck but she didn't feel anything wrong rather than a necklace she usually wears.
Her actions broke Ethan's attention and he directly asked her his question," Uhm that pendant? How do you have this?,".
Edith looked at her small rose gold coloured diamond lotus shaped pendant and then at Ethan and said," This? Jo gave me this on my 7th birthday?,".
Ethan's eyes widened at her words and he said," What? On your 7th birthday?," Edith nodded and Ethan said to himself," And when I asked for that pendant you said you lost it but you didn't rather you gave our family pendant to Dr. Wood this only means you all always wanted me to marry her but when I told you all about Emmy you just accepted her without a word and even gave Emmy the new exact same pendant. We really need to talk mom,''.
Edith looked at him in confusion and said," Is something wrong with the pendant?,".
Ethan looked at her clueless expression and said," No everything's fine, it's just that this particular pendant or should I say this particular design is our family heirloom every woman and girl of the family have this in the same design and colour,".
Maria also looked at Edith and said," Yes look Grandma has also given me the same necklace on my last birthday Louis also got the family ring,". After that she started showing her pendant which was exact same as Edith
Edith had a dumbfounded look on her face when she heard them as she clutched her pendant in a fist and she thought,'' What the? Family heirloom ? Why would Jo give me her family heirloom? Ugh! This was my favorite pendant but it's so precious I can't just keep it,". But she didn't say a word about that and just said," Oh I get it,".
After 15 min of silence everyone stood up after their breakfast and Edith looked at Ethan and said," Let me wash the dishes Mr. Smith it would be good after your delicious breakfast,".
Ethan stopped and looked at Edith with a frown and said," No need Dr. Wood, our maid will do it. She will be here in a few hours. She is the one who does all our house chores,".
Edith nodded and said," Okay then I think you wanted to talk right?,".
Ethan nodded and turned to look at both the kids and said," Go to your room and do your homework if you need any help just give me a call I'll be in the study with Dr. Wood,".
Maria and Louis looked at each other and then at Edith and with just one look Edith understood what they wanted to say so she ruffled their hair and said," Don't worry I won't leave without telling you both," both the kids smiled and nodded then walked towards their room.
