Chapter 24: I'm Just Crisis Management

Kane had figured something would happen with Casey and Vera sooner or later. He had been in love with her for no insignificant chunk of his life. The real mystery was why she returned his feelings.

In a way, it made sense that she would make the first move though because Casey was too much of a coward. He would have been content to simply stand by and take care of Vera without a label forever because he was a sap. 

He had been hesitant to get involved and Kane understood why. This complicated things further since she still didn't know about Kane and the plan was that she never would. 

Kane was glad that she made him happy but less so about having to deal with her more often when he wasn't the one who loved her. He started showing up more often once Casey was in college because he was more stressed. 

Stupid group projects. Stupid presentations! Those were his biggest triggers. Kane ended up taking over for those a lot.
