Chapter 17: I am You

Dagne felt her heart ache for the girls in her arms. She was so young to be thrown into this strange world. The fact is that Artemis never invited humans to his playground, but this is a hell of a way to find out what you really are. There was a sense of alienation in the real world that the Russian dragoness was extremely familiar with. 

"Shh, sestra, shh, you're safe now," she whispered into Raven's hair as her sobs slowed down. She rubbed steady circles into her back. The last thing she wanted was for her kin to go through what she had to as a girl, and in that moment, the Russian native swore to herself that whatever happened in the tournament, she would always have Raven's back. 

Raven pulled back slowly, sniffing up the last of her tears and whipping her eyes as she did.
