Ivan
I stopped, getting up and taking a step back.
Nefera stared at me, concerned, but she didn't stop me. Of everyone who knew me, she understood the inner workings of my mind more than I did. It didn't help that Van had sold me out, so now she knew one of the secrets I tried keeping from myself. Not that it was a complete secret from her. She knew I liked the idea of control and power.
However, magic was a separate matter.
"The more you reject it, the harder it will be," She whispered, taking a small step forward. "Magic is all in or out."
"Then, I'm out," I didn't hesitate, not wanting this.
"Why does it scare you so much?" Even with her, I resisted the question. How could I answer a question when I didn't know the answer myself? "I know the pack has issues because of the war."
"It has nothing to do with that," Even as I said it, I realized how wrong I was. "It shouldn't."
