"Hey, princess," Luke took Pen-Pen from the harness, allowing me to shift and change before joining Nefera in the exam room. "You're going to get to see your brother."

We'd run to the packhouse, meeting my mother just as she pulled in with my daughter. Mom wanted to know why I was taking Penelope, but I avoided the subject. There was no chance I was letting it slip that we were having another pup. However, I mind-linked Vince, Steven, Tay, and Bran to meet us at the pack hospital. What happened last night was now on the top of the list. 

It was bad enough we were dealing with enemies, but now we were in the ring with gods? 

'Nefera is Famine,' I remind myself. That means we were never playing in the shallow end.
