"My father Bernard was the Alpha of the Asas Da Fortuna pack in Fortaleza, Brazil," Benji began explaining, still staring at his little sister's drawing of Nefera. "Five years ago, he gave that position to my uncle and brought us here."

"Why did he leave the pack?" There weren't many Alphas who'd willingly give up their positions to anyone without a fight. So why uproot his family? "Was there a disagreement?"

"No," shaking his head, Benji looked at Eliza, sitting near the flower beds with Nefera and Fernanda. "We have a very good relationship with our mother pack. My uncle even organized things so we wouldn't be fully disconnected from them when we formed the Pena Rapida."

"So what happened?" Luke watched the girls, aware of the female warriors who kept their distance but carefully guarded all three females. "No one just uproots like this for no reason, and very few have their original pack's blessing to do so."
