Chapter 29: Random Knowledge

Izzy didn't even have to think about it. Random knowledge came floating up to the forefront of her mind immediately, as it always did when this topic was brought up.

"Oranges aren't a naturally occurring fruit. They're a hybrid of tangerines and pomelos and they were originally green rather than orange. The climate they're grown in has changed over time and they lose their chlorophyll-induced color in warmer temperatures.

"You can figure out the color of a chicken's egg by looking at the color of their earlobes. Yes, they do have earlobes! Don't ask me how I know that because I can't remember. What else…oh! People used to say "prunes" when getting their picture taken instead of "cheese" because it kept the mouth in a prim shape in the early 19th century before people cared about smiling for pictures.
