Chapter 49: ...I've Had A Rough Week

Vincent hadn't needed or wanted anyone after seeing how foolish attachments could be. Attachments got people killed. 

He had avoided them for more than thirty years after losing Lottie only to find himself trapped with the beginning of one now. The woman sleeping in front of him could very well be his ruin. 

It was terrifying to think about. He tried telling himself that he wasn't the same helpless child he had been before. He would be able to protect one person. He had excellent security and access to top-of-the-line medical care. Not to mention a robot army. 

When he first came up with the plan to marry Maya, he hadn't thought he would care about her. She was supposed to be nothing more than a pawn. Now he genuinely wanted her to rule the world with him.
