Chapter 10: Chapter 10 - Awakening Knowledge Sea

From the dark clouds covering the sky a tremendous bolt of energy fell onto Tang San.

Under the raging torrent of World Energy, the surrounding radius of ten meters, which was in close proximity to Tang San was turned into purgatory.

Once he was hit, Tang San's figure quickly swelled up as his skin started to show cracks. The damage was so large that his eyes started bulging out and bits of flesh peeled out from his skin.

Tang Yuehua shed tears of pain seeing this gruesome scene while Tang Hao stood expressionlessly but his hands were already clenched tightly as if he was able to feel the painful torture experienced by his son.

Tang San mobilised the ability of the Gift of Light and started healing the wounds.

The clouds above his head were yet to dissipate. There were even signs of the next tribulation.

Tang San slowly closed his eyes. His breakthrough into Soul Grandmaster was fast approaching and he no longer had the time to pay attention to outside affairs. At this moment he could only focus on fully withstanding the World Energy baptism while waiting to open his Spiritual Sea and officially enter the Spirit Connection Realm.

After he was struck by the lightning, the devastating energy contained in the dark clouds seemed to become active and chaotic.

The Heavenly Tribulation was angered by Tang San's repeated resistance and stubborn persistence.

One bolt of energy after another streamed towards Tang San in a neverending torrent, causing the heartbeats of both Tang Hao and Tang Yuehua to rest wondering whether or not little San would be reborn from this baptism or be forever destroyed.

Being kind and gentle-hearted in nature. Tang Yuehua could not bear to see her little nephew experience such a moment of Life & Death at such a young age of six.

She stared up into the sky gloomily and yelled, "Big Brother please save Xiao San as soon as possible! The situation is getting worse. He may not be able to bear it any longer!"

Tang Hao shook his head and said flatly, "Sister, I can't intervene rashly without knowing Xiao San's condition otherwise rather than help, I may implicit him."

Ye Chen had to endure torrents of thunder tribulations. His unyielding persistence even touched Tang Hao.

Every time Tang San was struck by a lightning, he stood up on his feet ready to face the next. His willpower was steady as a mountain and his expression calm as a sea.

Tang Hao was numb seeing this scene. He even began questioning himself if he could survive the ordeal if he was ever put in this situation. Even steel-willed Title Douluos', who stood at the apex of this continent were sceptical to face the tribulations let alone with their physical strength.

Seeing this scene, Tang Yuehua could do nothing but pray silently in her heart for the well-being of Xiao San.

Though Tang Hao was a bit overwhelmed seeing the tribulation, he was also a dignified Super Douluo who had seen many storms and rains. How can a lightning tribulation make him feel afraid?

He was watching the situation closely, ready to take action instantly if he see any mishap.

Tang San was now at a critical juncture. If he was disturbed and really failed during this promotion process, he could die, his body and soul both being completely erased. Even if the result wasn't so extreme, it would at least halt his journey of cultivation thereby maintaining his life.

As a father, Tang Hao wanted nothing more than the safety of his son but as a teacher and a mentor if possible he chose not to intervene.

Opportunities and dangers co-exist. If Tang San could overcome this predicament, he would soar to the sky. This was what Tang Hao firmly believed.

*Hong*

As the two brothers and sister spoke, a great 'bang' suddenly resounded and with this thunderous noise, an even thicker and more insidious aura began spreading out from Tang San's body.

Such awakening was unprecedented, completely different from all previous awakenings in the history of of the Mainland.

Ye Chen's consciousness was now focused inward, opening the Spiritual Sea.

Tang San's (Ye Chen's) consciousness was submerged within himself, completely surrounded by darkness just like the entire region which was covered by dark storm clouds.

The only difference was that his subconscious mind was even darker than Holy Soul Village, Notting City and the other areas, with not a single speck of light at all.

This space was dark like before the existence of the Heavens and the Earth. Encompassed in chaos was the dark void where nothing existed.

Tang San (Ye Chen) was very familiar with this space, after all, it was his Spiritual World and the place where he fought against the soul of Tang Ming~San.

The Spiritual world was now calm, devoid of the two destructive energies, that once occupied this space. All of which were refined and absorbed into his body thanks to the Mysterious Black Ring.

Ye Chen saw the Ring floating in the dark void, rotating slowly, surrounded by tiny firefly like lights of various colours. It looked ordinary, not having the previous brilliance and the manifestations of the Six Divine Beasts.

Ye Chen did not think much about it after all the Ring was very mysterious. He had always wondered about the background of the Ring, sadly, he had no clue to work on. So he did not think much about it.

His intuition confided that this Mysterious Artefact had given birth to its own sentience, otherwise how could it always help him when he was in danger?

He believed that it was impossible to obtain its secret and its powers, without some luck and opportunity, especially since it has its sentience. If one wanted to take it, he or she had to get the Artefact Spirit's recognition.

As long as he could get the recognition of the Artefact Spirit, it would become easy for him to pry its secrets.

Sadly it was easy said than done!

In the vast Universe, there are tens of thousands of worlds. Each having its unique way of cultivation, evolved to suit the optimum conditions, maintaining the balance of Yin & Yang, and harmony of the Heaven and the Earth.

No matter how different the cultivation techniques be, the ultimate road is the Dao.

Among the myriad universe worlds, numerous races reside, each having their unique perception and insights about Dao.

Dao is the manifestation of Heavenly rules. It cannot be seen, it cannot be heard,

And yet it cannot be exhausted.

Along the road of cultivation, one could get countless opportunities. And when it came to good luck, Tang San was confident that he would not lose to anyone. So, he still had some hope that he could uncover the mysteries of the Ring. It's only a wait of time and the perfect opportunity!

Tang San looked around into the Spiritual World. He found changes taking place that were induced by the spiritual awakening and the thunder tribulation.

Lights flashed and his soul vibrated as mysterious ripples propagated spreading out into the entire Spiritual World, like a new shoot sprouting after rain. However, delicate and fragile, it was still pushing through the soil to emerge, wanting to forever shatter the perpetual darkness that surrounded it.

The flashes emanating became more and more intense each time it pulsed, and the fluctuations in Tang San's soul would also amplify. The dark void seemed unable to suppress this brilliance, illuminating the entire space.

Tang San was shocked and pleasantly surprised.

Rich yet gentle energy permeated the surroundings at an incredible speed. As this energy spreads, it quickly dyed the dark space white, making it no longer a dead zone but one that was filled with subtle vitality.

The energy which spread rapidly was Tang San's spiritual energy. It has become more subtle and condensed since he acquired and started practising the Tang Sect's Xuan Tian Gong. Even before breaking through to the level of Soul Master, Tang San began cultivating his Spiritual Energy. Which is unprecedented in Douluo Continent's history.

The cultivation of Spiritual force was not known to the people. It was popularized and known to the people tens of thousands of years after Tang San and Huo Yueha ascended to the Divine Realm, according to the original sequel.

The Spiritual Energy was invisible and ethereal, similar to True Qi, requiring a storage location within one's body. True Qi was stored in the dantian and meridians while Spiritual Energy is stored in the Knowledge Sea or Sea of Consciousness in the Spiritual World.

Before Tang San opened his Spiritual World and Knowledge Sea, the mysterious ring had served as the carrier for his Spiritual Energy.

Right now, Tang San (Ye Chen) was using the Spiritual Energy he cultivated over these years to develop his Knowledge Sea or the Sea of Consciousness in his Spiritual World.

A subtle, nearly invisible Spiritual Energy was quietly being circulated in a steady flow. With the propagation of this Spiritual Energy, Tang San felt like a layer of shackles somewhere inside his mind had shattered and his Soul strengthened several times over.

Even though the Mysterious Ring was a supreme treasure, it was, after all, only a foreign object which had temporarily stored Tang San's Spiritual Energy.

By using this carrier as an intermediary, Tang San could also use his Divine Sense, but due to it not truly being a part of him, he had never been able to display his full power. Now that this container had completed its task as a transfer point, Tang San could fully utilize his Spiritual Energy, resulting in a large increase in his Spirit strength.

The extremely strong fluctuations of Tang San's Soul suddenly burst forth from his mind and swept over the entirety of Holy Soul Village.

Tang Hao and Tang Yuehua who were standing nearby changed colours when they felt the strength of his Soul Power. Both of them were amazed and excited.

The fluctuation of his Spiritual energy has completely surpassed those of Spirit Grandmaster level, leaving those in the same realm as him far, far behind.

Time passed by.

At some point, all the Spiritual Energy stored in the Mysterious Ring had finally been released.

The originally dark void was now filled with silky threads of soft light that extended as far as the eye could see.

Tang San clearly saw these threads undergo a sudden change, seemingly under the influence of some mysterious force.

A group of these threads pulsed as they gradually converged into a thicker, more powerful one, which subsequently pulled in and gathered more threads, gradually strengthening bit by bit in a seemingly endless cycle.

Ye Chen (Tang San) couldn't help recalling the scene he had witnessed in animes in his past life, where the demonstration of how one opened and formed their Consciousness Sea was shown but it was quite different from the scene playing out in front of him now.

Usually, the process of opening up of the Sea of consciousness is slow and temperate, advancing step by step. Although it didn't appear particularly difficult, it couldn't be described as 'fast' by any means.

Whereas on the contrary, at this moment, Tang San's Spiritual Energy was progressing rapidly and fiercely.

Within the once empty void, Spiritual Energy flooded every corner and was rapidly undergoing a kind of qualitative change.

*Hulala…*

Suddenly, the sound of flowing water appeared. Ye Chen (Tang San) swept his vision around and saw a clear stream of water, like a gentle stream, flowing out from a central point.

Naturally, this point was the Mysterious Black Ring! Occupying the most central part of his Spiritual World.

This tiny stream of water quickly grew and in the blink of an eye became a mighty river, then a great lake… and finally a vast unending sea!

As brisk winds blew, rolling waves several feet high appeared on this sea, all of them formed by Tang San's vast Spiritual Energy.

The Ring was quietly suspended above the ocean, constantly emitting a soft six coloured radiance which shone over the entire sea. The 'water' below was crystal clear and it swayed and churned in harmony with Tang San's thoughts. Soon after, great reefs formed in all directions, guiding and scattering the waves as the sea churned.

Within the sea, many strange fish began to appear, followed by birds which flew through the sky. After only a brief moment, the dark void had transformed into a world teeming with life and vitality.

As the sea breeze blew past him, a pure and natural feeling washed over Tang San.

Ye Chen's (Tang San's) Soul phantom stood midair, quietly looking around at this new world, his heartbeat racing slightly.

The floating Ring was particularly eye-catching with the six colours that illuminated his entire Spiritual World like a bright sun.

Everything here was comprised of Tang San's Spiritual Energy, so he could manipulate any piece of it at will.

The next moment, Tang San suddenly felt something deep within his heart permeate into this sea.

After investigating for a moment, Tang San discovered that it was actually all the memories he had!

Contained within his Consciousness Sea were all of Ye Chen's life experiences and memories. Everything he had encountered and learned these many years was gradually merging with this sea, including his cultivation technique, Martial Skills of the Tang Sect and even his past life pain and suffering.

Looking through the water casually, Ye Chen saw a few past events like he was watching a replay, the entire scene clearly presenting itself in front of his eyes as if he was experiencing it once again.

His eyes were teared up as he watched his grandfather, his adoptive mother in the memories. After some time his emotions became stable.

Now, his Consciousness Sea had truly formed!

At this moment, a strange feeling arose in Tang San's heart.

It was like he was seeing himself climbing a long mountain road to the peak of Martial Arts. He had journeyed far, but there was still a long way to go.

This kind of feeling made his soul afresh and brought a unique sense of calmness to his heart.

Among the fragments of memories, Ye Chen searched for the original Tang San's i.e- Tang Ming~San's memory but he only found some broken fractions of information having his life experience records from a certain portion of his life. Other than that he did not find any further memory. Thankfully, he got the entire memory of the Heavenly Treasure Records of Tang Sect.

The dark clouds in the sky had not yet dispersed, and the horrible World Energy continued to baptize Tang San's (Ye Chen's) body. Although his Knowledge Sea had already formed, his physical baptism was not over.

His body was constantly in the process of tearing and healing. A six-year-old bearing such torture was simply unimaginable.

Though he managed to block most of the thunderbolts with the hammer spirit, some still hit him.

The powerful restorative force of Gift of Light and the destructive power of thunderbolts battled one another inside Tang San's body forming a kind of excruciating tug of war.

As Tang San's body was constantly being torn apart and then repaired it became tougher and more robust. After enduring this cycle of destruction and restoration over and over again, Tang San (Ye Chen) did not feel any pain as he gradually became numb to it.

Simultaneously, Tang San's body seemed like an invisible vortex constantly drawing in the surrounding world's energies, this was his other ability, The Endless of Dim that can absorb any form of energy. From the outside, it appeared like there is a small swirling whirlpool inside the Heavenly Tribulation.

After regaining control of his body, under his careful guidance, his swallowing ability became tens of times more powerful than before.

The small swirling whirlpool became a great vortex of wind that suddenly covered ten Li areas with Ye Chen's body at its center, and Energy which had been spread around was immediately pulled towards him.

Even the mighty World Energy contained in the thick clouds above did not escape this suction.

A massive tornado was formed with Tang San calmly standing at its central position, and soon the dark clouds above were drawn into this whirlpool and disappeared into Tang San's body.

Within less than a quarter of an hour, the region surrounding Holy Soul Village suddenly became clear, with not a single cloud in the sky for ten li. The bright blue sky and gentle breeze were seemingly washing the nervousness and fear from everyone's hearts.

The great suction calmed and the cloud of dust gathered around Tang San slowly began to settle.

The Emperor Tian Hammer in his hand absorbed the thunderbolts from the Heavenly Tribulation crazily, induced by his ability Endless of Dim. Thunderbolts covering its surface in a dense intertwining pattern.

Ye Chen (Tang San) slowly opened his eyes which shone with a brilliant flash. He was thrilled awakening Twin Martial Spirits and his Hammer spirit seemed even more powerful than the one awakened by Tang San in the original series.

There was a difference in reading and experiencing for himself!

Taking a deep breath, Tang San retracted his Divine Sense and Martial Spirit, suddenly becoming a plain and unremarkable youth, almost like he was an ordinary mortal who has yet to awaken Martial Spirit and cultivate Spirit Power. The only difference being the torrent of strong vitality and vigour radiating from his body.

Ye Chen gave a faint look at the surroundings only to see everything was in a mess, even the Sub Spirit Hall was broken. He didn't expect his Spirit awakening was followed by such powerful momentum.

He was now having a serious headache about how to explain this to others. Tang San looked around but did not find the other children or Su Yuntao.

But his eyes caught sight of two people standing at a distance. It was a beautiful young woman in a blue dress and a middle-aged man, Tang Hao and Tang Yuehua. Though he did not know who the mature woman was it was not a problem for him to guess her identity, given his discerning eyes.

"Oh! Looks like we got found out!" Tang Hao muttered. He was also surprised to see his location getting exposed.

Tang San saw both of them staring at him appreciatively with smiles on their faces. But before he could greet them, both disappeared like a 'puff' of smoke.

A few moments later some villagers came to the scene to inspect the huge commotion. They saw the envoy and the children were unconscious on the ground. At the distance, they saw the Spirit Hall sub-hall in the rubble. They sighed with relief thanking God that nobody sustained any injuries.

Old Jack inspected the area and found Tang San was the only one in the group who was conscious. After asking a few important details he sighed with relief.

This could have been a real tragedy thankfully it was avoided and everyone was safe. Otherwise, if anything happened to The Envoy, they had to explain to the Spirit Hall, which would implicit commoners like them with no Spirit Power.

With the extensive care of the villagers, Su Yuntao and the other children woke up from an incoherent state.

------------------

Later Tang San casually fabricated a bunch of lies which were further proven by The Village Chief Jack. Hearing all the recounts of the previous incidents Su Yuntao felt unreal but he could do nothing but believe in the recounts of Old Jack and the other villagers.

Tang San's spirit power was levelled at zero since Su Yuntao could not feel any fluctuations of Spirit power from him. The Crystal ball which was used to measure the Spirit Power was destroyed by lightning.

Su Yuntao felt quite helpless whenever he looked at the ruins of the Sub Spirit Hall. Thankfully, he managed to secure two children who awakened Soul Power one of them even being a rare genius with innate Spirit power of 8th level.

He gave both of them necessary certificates and documents recording their Martial Spirit and Spirit power. And made all the necessary arrangements - talking to Li Jing's parents and securing her to the Spirit Hall.

Once completing all these things Su Yuntao hurried off to Notting City to submit his reports on this incident.

Grandpa Jack was happy to have two children, who successfully awakened Martial Spirit in their village and decided to take them to Notting Junior Academy for admission next month.

But his happy face had a touch of sadness.

Old Jack slowly walked over to Tang San and patted his back. He felt God to be unfair; making the little boy's life so harsh - an irresponsible drunken father, no maternal love, useless Spirit, No Spirit Power.

Like any other old grandpa, he gave Tang San some words of encouragement. Among the children of the village, he was much closer to Tang San and watched him grow up. Old Jack felt regretful that Tang San could not awaken Spirit Power.

Giving some encouragement Old Jack slowly walked away staggeringly supported by the long cane, his expression devoid of happiness as if aged by another five years.

Tang San was not much disappointed with the evaluation of Su Yuntao. But the same cannot be said for Grandpa Jack. He appreciated Grandpa Jack's feelings for encouraging him to not be sad.

Though he felt kinda' of bad he could not unveil his Spirit and Spirit Power to Old Jack. Because knowing too much would rather do them harm than good.

Also, his identity as the descendant of the Clear Sky Clan and the Son of Clear Sky Douluo was very sensitive. If known to Spirit Hall, he would be chased to the ends of the continent like cats and dogs. His life would become impossible by then.

None of them here knew that he had awakened Twin Spirits with an innate level of 20 Spirit Power. Probably in the entire Mainland, only Qian Ren Xue could match him in talents.

Without wasting any time, he walked towards his home ready to meet his father and his aunt. He had no idea that Tang Hao would watch over his awakening secretly. He was now having a hard time, how to explain things to his father once he reached home. Additionally, he also had doubts regarding the unexpected appearance of Tang Yuehua.
