Chapter 31: chapter 30;Can't Lose You?!

I was looking forward to have a great time with the others since samra suggested that we spend the weekend in her mansion I didn't get to say anything so as planned we met at her house.
As I got out of the taxi,I spotted a black motorcycle heading my way, there were couples riding it. I couldn't tell who they were since they wore a black matching helmet.
As they stopped they both took it off and realized it was Martha and a guy who wasn't assigned with us.
"Hey martha, who is this?" I asked as they both walked together towards the house.
"This is Liam, my boyfriend and college graduate,I brought him here so he could help us with the project" she said as we entered samra's house.
As we entered, I saw samra and Sophia together, samra welcome us and she decided to do something like swimming and had fun before we started working on the project.
Later that day,martha suggested to throw a party for the night and asked Sophia to do the project herself.
At first she hesitated but then left without uttering a word, even though it wasn't fair for her to do all the work by herself.
I didn't say anything, so I just sat down while people came in and the music played so loud that I felt my ears would burst.
As I walked around, I came across a room, the door was slightly open so I entered and saw Sophia sleeping on a couch, I looked at her for a while before I sat down and laid my head on the empty side of the couch.
I was woken up by a ringtone, I thought it was Sophia's but it wasn't because she wasn't there at all.
It was like she vanished in the thin air, the phone kept ringing so I answered it without looking at the caller.
"Brian, brian come home fast something ha..happened " my brother Luke said as he whispered.
"I quickly got up and walked towards the door when I saw some kids lying on the floor,I tiptoe to grab my bag and left the house without seeing samra.
I quickly got into a cab and got home, I paid the driver and got out quickly running towards the house.
As I reached the door it was slightly open and I saw a man telling my mom to calm down and to put the knife down.
"Allison calm down please I won't lie to you just listen to me" he said as he walked towards her.
"Who are you and how do tou know my mom?" I asked him as his back was facing me and I couldn't see his face.
"Brian don't say anything " mom said as she I saw her shaking hands still pointing the knife at him.
He slowly turned around and when he saw me he smiled at me. I realised he looked familiar, because he had the same eyes like mine which was hazel and also a picture of him and mom.
"You have no right to be here not after what you did then years ago so you better leave before I call the police" mom said as she signalled me to go to Luke's room.
"Allison don't push me away and you know am not capable of doing such thing please believe me" he said as he walked towards her.
I didn't know how to react as I felt that he might hurt her so I quickly stood in front of her to protect her from him.
"You heard what she said you better leave or else" I said as I was about to call the cops.
Out of nowhere, my mom pushed me away and tried to prevent him from getting any closer. I accidentally burned my arm and both of them were in a fight.
The man managed to get the knife out of my mom's hand and pushed her where she slipped and hit her head on table and fainted.
It seemed like she stabbed him on the shoulder as I saw blood on his white shirt and blue jacket he was wearing. He stumble as he ran out of the house.
I wanted to chase him but mom was lying unconscious on the floor, my hand were in pain,so I quickly called the ambulance and both mom and I were rushed to the hospital.
Luke was with me in the waiting room as mom was in the emergency room, a nurse came and cleaned my wounds as my mind was thinking about the man.
I wonder why mom was being scared of him and what happened years ago that she acted so defensive towards him.
"Are you in any pain?" She asked as she finished bandaged my hand.
"Am fine, by the way how long will she be in the emergency?" I asked as the home flew and no one came to tell me anything.
"Don't worry am sure the doctor will come and tell you what happened" she said as she walked away.
Hours later, a doctor came out and said that she was doing great and not to worry, but the look on his face made me think he was hiding something.
"Doctor are you sure you're telling me the truth, something is wrong isn't it?" I asked as I stopped him and he looked at me.
"Do you by any chance know your mom's health situation?" He asked.
"What do you mean doctor and no I don't?what's going on please tell me" I said hoping to get more information.
He then called a nurse and told her to take my brother to the playing room while he talked to me.
She took Luke away and I followed him to his office, he then took out a file and showed me mom's file.
I opened the file, there were many MRI scans and the results, it said that she had stomach cancer, I couldn't believe it.
"But..ho..how's this possible?" I asked not accepting what I just saw.
"Am sorry Brian even though she made me not to tell you but I think it's better to find out about everything " he said as he leaned on the table.
I left the office and walked out when the nurse informed me that mom was taken to room and was resting.
I just nodded and came to the room which the nurse directed to me, I sat down and looked at her as she breathed slowly.
I couldn't help but to cry in pain as I wasn't ready to lose her and what would happen to luck when he finds out that he's going to be alone without her.
Later, I went to look for him in the playing room where he was playing with some kids,he looked so happy and I couldn't believe that he's going to have hard time once he finds out the truth.
He might be young but sometimes I think he's more mature than his age. When he saw me, he waved and continued playing.
I barely slept that night knowing that she hid the truth from me all this time, luck was sleeping on the couch and I sat on the chair looking at my phone.
As I was scrolling through, I noticed that Sophia sent me an email and I opened to see that she had sent me the notes which I had forgotten about it.
The next day I called the school admin and took a leave after leaving a message I went to get Luke something to eat.
As I was at the lobby,I saw samra and she told me that Martha's boyfriend had an accident. After a while she left with Martha and on the way back I saw Sophia.
She and I talked and we both walked together towards the room where mom was. Soon samra came back again and Sophia 3excused herself and left.
Even though she and I aren't friends, I was glad she came to see me, I knew that I was being hard on her but I hope we could be friends.
As samra was with me, the doctor came to check up on her and said that she was fine and that she should start her chemo routine as soon as possible.
"Her chemo?" Samra asked surprised
"Yeah a chemo, my mom has cancer and I never knew about it until yesterday when the doctor told me"i said as I tried not to break down.
"Oh my God!Brian am so sorry,I thought she had a minor injury I... I didn't know that, how are you holding up?" She asked as she looked at the window.
"To be honest am confused, scared and mostly I don't know what to say " I said as she pulled me into a hug and I hugged her closer.
"Don't worry she's going to be fine just have hope am sure she hid it for a reason" she said.
"I don't get it when was she planning to tell me? On her deathbed?" I asked as saying that made me feel more worried and sad.
"Ya Allah grant me patience so that I could be strong for them and be able to comfort her" I said as I prayed silently while samra pat my back.
As I felt calm, we went outside and sat on the bench and I looked up at the sky, the stars were shining in the dark and the moon was so bright.
"Its so beautiful and amazing how the night seems calm, I hope that you will go through it so easily and everything to be ok for you" she said as we both looked at the sky.
Even though I was sad about my mom's health I was glad that I had samra by my side and I couldn't help but to smile at her and she looked at me and smiled too.
I can't imagine losing my mom at this moment and surly hope that she passes through this....
