Chapter 75: Back to our fun day
I get back to my senses and Lara is holding her sword closely for some reason. I turn to her and give a light smile which confuses her and she turns around looking behind her.
"Are you okay?" she asks
"Yeah of course! But the new question I have for you is...do you remember the old days when we lived here in Arcadia?"
"Of course! I have fond memories of the old home we sold."
"Wait you guys sold the tavern?"
"Yeah, mother never told you?"
"Nope she never told me...But I guess it didn't matter at the time so no worries."
"Well then...I guessed you learned something."
"I suppose I did."
We start walking around the city a bit exploring the new stores with some gift shops and we stop by one of them. It has a large yellow sign. Hard not to see when walking around.
We walk in and there are toy swords made of wood, fake crossbows, and costumes of soldiers. I guess it is a military gift shop design. I know I would've enjoyed this as a kid. But maybe that is the guy side of me.
I walk around and notice a short-handed sword that looks pretty realistic. I pick it up and it feel light as hell. I sword it a couple of times and pretend to be a kid who is fantasizing about being a soldier.
Lara is looking around when she sees me and has a puzzled look on her face. She must be wondering what I am doing...I feel a bit embarrassed being caught. Oh well.
I rub the back of my head and place it back in the holder and walk off pretending it didn't happen while Lara just looks at me with confusion.
*minutes later*
We finish searching around and eventually finish and left the store with nothing we purchased. I guess that's fine I just wanted to browse. Ever had that uncomfortable feeling when you enter a store and exit with nothing...
We start wandering around and bit and Lara runs off to a produce stall and buys an apple for herself and me. Juicy thick apples are the greatest and I don't care what anyone else says.
*crunch* *chews*
"So good!"
"You have an odd attraction to apples..." *crunch*
"n-no I just love them..." *chews*
"Sure" *chews*
"What don't believe me?"
"Oh I believe you love apples to much...maybe sexually hahaha!"
"W-what!? That's so weird why would you say that!"
"Oh please, I know you do. Don't worry your secret is safe with me hehe!" she says with a smug walking away from me.
Hmph...she is enjoying this I can see.
We both start walking and I come to realize we really are like siblings. Not all siblings get along but those who do have amazing relationships. I don't mean that kind of relationship...I mean good ones where they respect each other and care for one another as a family. But for her, she is more than that.
I walk a little faster than her even though she is taller than me by a bit. maybe it is her torso that is bigger than mine. Not that she is fat she is really fit I have seen her abs. I mean whatever.
In all honesty, they are really hot.
I don't know why but seeing abs just mmm...I don't know just get to me for some reason. Maybe it is an attraction. Arla is fit as well but she doesn't have abs, she is skinny, however. But not too skinny.
I get elbowed by Lara as I am thinking and I get back to my normal state.
"Oof! H-hey what was that for?" I turn to look at Lara.
Lara looks at me for a bit and faces downwards looking down. I look where she is looking and it appears to be 2 little kids playing in front of us. An orc girl and a green and yellow scaled caiman.
I stare at them and they seem to be laughing and chasing each other. The caiman trips over but picks himself right back up and chasses right after her. So adorable. Reminds me of Lara and me as kids.
"Brings back memories huh Lara."
"Yeah, it does..." she says while looking at the kids with a smile. The orc girl notices us and waves to us but turns her head to see her friend catch up to her and hug her.
"Gimme my toy back!" he says giving a pouty face one could make for a lizardman.
"Hehe, you caught me fine!"
She gives him his toy and he starts playing it with. It is one of those realistic sword toys. I can tell it is a toy because no way the kid could lift it up.
He takes a look at me and turns to me and starts waving it in front of me just a couple of feet from me. Adorable. Kids can be real funny.
I pretend I am afraid of the kid and he starts laughing and starts running off. With the orc girl following in pursuit. Those two are likely going to be long-time friends.
"You seem good with kids" says Lara
"Maybe, but I don't know in all honesty."
"Hmm, well I am sure you would be good with kids."
"Maybe..."
We continue walking around and realize it is lunchtime likely so we stop by a tavern for something to eat. We enter ti not knowing what kind of food we might get.
We sit down at one of the tables and wait for a bit. Lara gets a bit nervous and I can tell she is fidgeting with her sword handle. She is nervous for some reason. I wonder why...
*Lara POV*
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! This is like a date! This whole time we have just been hanging out together but now we are...are! Eating together! Calm down Lara calm down. Coda is an idiot he doesn't know the difference.
"Hey Lara? Can you hand me your hand?"
"W-what!?" I say attracting attention from other patrons.
Why would he ask me that? Don't tell me he thinks it's a date and is wanting my hand! I'm-I not ready for that!
"Why?"
"Just give me your hand, trust me. You trust me don't you?" he says giving me a charismatic smile.
"O-okay..." I say reluctantly giving my hand.
He holds my hand gently and I can't help but get flustered a blush a bit...God I hope that idiot doesn't notice!"
"Are you okay Lara you seem of? Are you nervous or sick?" he says giving me a look of concern.
"N-no...I'm not sick I'm just uhm...uhm..."
He leans over the table and places his head on my forehead feeling the heat. His head is so warm...and not rough...I would've expected his scales to be rough and course but it is smooth. Almost like skin.
"Hmm, you don't seem sick but your head is pretty warm for some reason. Are you sure you are not sick?"
"Yes I'm just uh...you know...I don't know! lets just order something! Waiter!" I say opening a menu and calling out covering my face with the menu pages to hide my face.
*Coda POV*
She seems off for some reason. I can't place my finger on why she is though...But as long as she is okay I won't bother her for now unless it gets worse.
I open my menu eyeing her menu because of her odd behavior. I swear I saw her blushing a couple of times...Meh girls these days are weird I guess.
"So....what are you ordering?"
"Freaking idiot" she mumbles under her breath
"what?"
"Nothing! I uhm will have the fish!"
"Alright then so shall I."
"you don't have to just get something else."
"Nah, I am fine with getting the same thing as you."
"F-fine then!" she says turning her head around from me.
