Chapter 5: Starting the journey

"Captain Morgan lost!" "He's been defeated!" The Marines said.
"Any of you still want to capture us?" Zoro said.
"..."
"Hooray!" "We're free!" "Morgan's reign of terror is over!" The Marines shouted with glee and joy.
The marines were suddenly hugging each other. Some were throwing their weapons into the air, and others were dancing with joy.
"Hmph! Their happy we defeated their captain!" Luffy said.
"Which means... Morgan was ruling by fear!" Coby said, relieved that the Marines did evil things because Morgan was forcing them to.
"Forcing his subordinates to do evil things and taking away their freedom... Morgan is evil." Arnold said. He can sympathize with the Marines. The same thing has been done to him, but much worse.
Suddenly, Zoro fell. Arnold caught him before he touched the ground.
"He's tired. Let's get him and us to a safe place, Luffy." Arnold said.
*Timeskip effect sound*
The four of them were now in civilian's house, eating like there were no tomorrow, except Coby. They were so focused on eating that they didn't notice that a bunch of people were observing them through the window.
"I'm stuffed! Not eating for nine days was worse than I thought!" Zoro exclaimed.
" How did you survive for nine days without food? That's inhumane." Arnold asked while shoving the food down his throat.
"See? You'd never have survived the whole month!" Luffy said while eating like someone was going to take his food away.
"Funny... You seem even hungrier than me!" Zoro argued back.
"You guys... eat too much. You're like pigs." Arnold scolded them.
"Says you!" They both shouted to Arnold. He was currently finishing his 10th bowl of food.
"It's kind of you to feed me along with the heroes, ma'am!" Coby said.
It's the least I can do! You four saved the whole town." The woman said, with her daughter nodding.
"Wow, you're great!" The little girl praised them.
"Yeah. I'm kinda great! And I'm going to become a lot greater!" Luffy said.
"So... what's next?" Zoro asked.
"You're aiming to become the Pirate king. Which means..." Arnold said.
"Yep! We're headed for the grand line!"
"Huh? That's suicide! There are only three of you! If you go there, you'll just be sailing to your deaths!" "The most bloodthirsty pirates in the world are there!" Coby said.
"Guess we're going to become those bloodthirsty pirates since we'll be going there..." Arnold responded.
"Well, I guess if we're after the One Piece... the Grand line is where we'll have to go." Zoro agreed.
"Guys?! You're agreeing with him?!" Coby said.
"What's it to you? You're not coming with us." Zoro said.
"No, but I'm worried about you! Can't I worry... for my friends?" Coby said.
"That's not what I-"
"Luffy, guys, we haven't known each other for too long, but... We're friends, aren't we?" Coby asked.
"We're going our separate ways... but we'll always be friends!" Luffy said, grinning.
"You're the first real friends I've had... No one else stuck up for me! Even I wouldn't stick for me!" Coby said.
"But the three of you... You taught me to fight for what believe in!"
"That's why I'm going to the Grand line!" Luffy said.
"Mm-hm" Arnold Hummed in agreement.
"Makes sense to me." Zoro agreed.
"I'm trying to convince you that it's too reckless!" Coby said.
"What about your plans, Coby?" Arnold asked.
"You've been on a pirate ship for two years. Watch out for the Marine's intelligence. If they find out about your background, they won't let you enlist." Zoro said.
"Excuse me..."
One of the Marine that they saved earlier came in the house.
"You gentlemen are pirates... Correct?" The Marine asked.
"That's right, I even have a crewman now which makes me a genuine captain!" Luffy said.
"Um... You saved our base and this town... And we are truly grateful to you." The Marine said.
"However, we are still Naval marines... And we can't shelter pirates." "I'm sorry, but I have to ask you to leave. But to show our gratitude, we won't report you to the Navy." He said.
"Navy pigs! What are you doing!" "You hated Morgan as much as we did!" "They're you're saviors too!" The citizens of the town rebelled.
"Well, I guess we'll be going, then..." Luffy said.
"Thank you for the delicious meal." Arnold thanked the woman that cooked food for them.
As they were leaving, Arnold whispered to Coby "This is your chance to join them. You know what to do."
"You're not going with them?" The Marine asked Coby.
"Huh?! I'm... I'm... I... I am not one of them!" Coby said while clenching his fists.
Then, the Marine asked Luffy if it's true. Luffy started to reveal Coby's background, and those two got in a fight. in the end, the Marine had to stop those two. However, that was Luffy's plan to make it look like that they're not friends.
"Enough! Stop disturbing the peace!" the Marine shouted.
"It is clear that you two are not friends. Please, leave the town! Now!" He said.
So they left.
"That was some bad acting you did..." Arnold said.
"I wouldn't be surprised if they saw through it." Zoro agreed.
"It's all up to Coby, now. He'll get in somehow!" Luffy said.
"Well, it's a good time to be leaving... Everybody hates us... That's the way a pirate should leave a town." Said Zoro.
"Ha Ha Ha, I guess that's true!" Luffy agreed.
"A harsh truth..." Arnold mumbled.
Suddenly, a voice yelled out to them.
"L-L-Lu-Luffy!" Said Coby.
"Thank you very much, captain Luffy! I'll never forget all you did for me!" Said Coby as he saluted.
"This is a new one. A pirate saluted by a Marine!" Zoro said.
"The second one in history, maybe." Agreed Arnold.
" 'Ten shun!" The Marine said as he and the other Marines, who now were behind Coby, also saluted as they sailed away.
"We're on our way! To the Grand Line!"
The journey now begins.
