Chapter 243: Xix

Golden eyes blinked open to see dozens of pairs of multicolored pupils staring back. Xix panicked and closed her eyes, then turned away. The sound of a light chuckle permeated the room. "So I'm hearing that I owe you my life." She heard Xasha's voice and her eyes snapped open.

Seeing he was okay, she smiled in relief, then sat up suddenly. "I. I was only doing my job. No need for praise."

"Nonsense. Do you think my life is worth so little that saving it doesn't even warrant a few words at least?"

"No, that's not what I-" Xix became slightly nervous.

Xasha had cut her off mid-sentence. "Don't worry about it. I'm just glad you're okay." Xasha ruffled her long golden locks while grinning happily.

"You're a true hero Xix. You saved both our lives." Megan came forward and held her hand warmly. "Thank you."

"You're welcome." Xix grinned happily. She really couldn't believe what was happening.
