Chapter 204: The End Of The Old Council
3 days have passed since then.
Although many villagers wanted to join the military police force, they weren't allowed because of lord second Hokage's policies, however, this was all about to change soon.
Especially after Sakumo hits the final nail in the coffin.
The Uchiha clan was also beginning to adjust back to their previous lives.
Ryuu and the other Uchiha hide Itachi from the root shinobi and Anbu black ops, they keep him in the Naka shrine and Ryuu would visit him sometimes.
Today, Ryuu was reporting to the Hokage once again,
"Has Kakashi done his part?" Sakumo asks Ryuu.
Ryuu kneels in front of him. Now that he's back on duty once more, he has to be formal.
"Yes, Kakashi rounded them up, nothing is stopping us now. It's only a matter of time."
"Be patient."
"Of course, I'm just eager for this."
Sakumo smiled.
"I know." Sakumo puts his feet on the table calmly,
"Very well then, let's finish the plan."
Ryuu nods and flickers away.
Once again, the villagers came to see Sakumo. This time it was only two people, Soga Akimitsu and a man named Matabei.
Before they enter, Sakumo sits up and waits.
"Come in!"
They both walk in,
"Hokage-sama, since the Uchiha clan came back, crime has decreased incredibly fast, it's even safe to walk at night no matter how far I'm going, as long as it's within the village."
Sakumo nods,
"We are fortunate to have them back. I'm not sure what we would've done without them."
"Indeed…" Matabei looks at Soga and then Sakumo.
"Hokage-sama, we came here to ask you something. We understand if you don't want to tell us this, but I think this'll be better told to us rather than hidden from us.
Chances are you'll tell us the truth after you hear what we know."
"Oh? What do you want to know?" Sakumo asks,
"Danzo Shimura… exactly how much has he gotten away with?" Sakumo's eyes widen.
'Just as I suspected, even the mere name of Danzo Shimura is enough to suggest that we know more than we should.'
"Danzo Shimura, eh?" Soga nods.
"We want to know, did he order a hit on the entire Uchiha clan?"
Sakumo takes a few moments before answering,
"The truth is… Danzo has gotten away with much more than that. Things that you couldn't even think of.
He's a cunning man who knows how to break rules without getting caught."
Sakumo looks at Soga, his sharp eyes showing his seriousness.
"The reason I'll be telling you all this is that.
From this day going forward, I'm declaring Danzo Shimura and his shinobi as criminals."
Their eyes widen in shock.
"Shortly after the failed negotiations with Sunagakure, Hasai Uchiha also attempted to kill me.
He was part of an organization called the Foundation. Danzo runs that organization."
"What?!" a collected state of shock leads them to ask together.
"It's true, he was also the one who leaked information to Sunagakure.
Quite honestly, it would take a lot of time for me to tell you just a few misdeeds Danzo and his organization have done, so I'll briefly tell you some things.
The nine-tails attack and the death of the fourth Hokage happened because Danzo ordered the Uchiha clan to stay back. He did so without consulting us and he used his prestige to threaten Fugaku.
The identity of the nine tails jinchuriki was supposed to be a secret, but guess how you all knew about him?"
Soga and Matabei look at each other and frown.
"But that… can't be…" Soga grits his teeth.
'What an outright bastard!' Soga curses Danzo's name in his head.
"Anyway, that's all I choose to tell you. Any more than that is confidential, but just know… everything he's done is cruel and done for selfish reasons."
Soga and Matabei stand up,
"Thank you, Hokage-sama.
You've told us enough, and we know you're capable of handling him now."
They left the Hokage's office with their hatred of Danzo tenfold stronger.
Ryuu appears in Sakumo's office again.
"Hmph, well done. Now I can finally avenge them, I just need to kill Danzo."
"Yes, I suppose that's the last part of the plan, isn't it?" A sinister smirk creeps up behind Ryuu's mask,
'Finally…'
The next day, Danzo's name had been spat out like a curse by many, everyone hated Danzo Shimura.
What Sakumo said the other day incriminated Danzo, and it also confirmed the foundation's existence to Konohagakure.
Before this, many villagers of Konohagakure didn't know that the foundation existed, only the majorly important clans and families knew of their existence.
By noon, many clan heads walked into the Hokage's office, Ryuu didn't stop them from barging in and neither did the other Anbu, cause they were under order to let this happen.
"What is the meaning of this Sakumo?"
Koharu asks with a frustrated look.
"It's Hokage-sama if you've forgotten." Sakumo was signing some papers when all the clan heads barged into his office.
"Won't you all take a seat? I've been meaning to talk to you all. I'll be addressing some… situations."
Homura's eyes widen seeing Sakumo's calm yet cold look.
All the other clan leaders look at each other before finally sitting down in an orderly manner, on the long table sorted for them.
Whoosh! Ryuu appears beside Sakumo.
"Now that we're all here, I'd like to address these upcoming and current events."
"Hokage-sama, why weren't we all informed that you would be exposing such a secret that could jeopardize the village?!"
Hiashi asks,
"Only the selected few knew about this part of the plan. By that, I mean Ryuu and me, for one."
Hiashi turns his gaze to Ryuu.
Even though Ryuu wore a mask, he emitted a powerful and unmistakable aura by simply standing there, not to mention his unmistakable Sharingan glare.
"Anyway, from today, the village will be evolving, we're going through a change now, and it starts with the eradication of Root. I hope you don't take this as disrespectful, but there are decisions I've made without consulting you all, there are even some which I haven't consulted Ryuu himself."
Ryuu didn't care to look at Sakumo because he believes in the choices his father makes.
But the others…
All clan heads except Fugaku, Ichika, and the Ino-Shika-Cho trio were pissed off.
"Exactly what does that mean Hokage-sama?" Homura asks,
"The root was an organization made to help Konoha from the underground, they can't be eradicated just like that!" Koharu adds.
Hiashi nods,
"What about us? Being a powerful clan in the village means that we should've been at least aware that you would make such a decision!" Hiashi states,
"Hokage-sama, it seems to me that they won't understand that this isn't a discussion, it's more of an announcement," Ryuu states, keeping his calm demeanor,
Everyone in attendance looks at Ryuu as he moves from beside Sakumo and takes a seat.
Ryuu pushes himself back and puts his feet on the table, closing his eyes and ticking off the ones in attendance, especially Sakumo.
But Sakumo doesn't stop him this time, he smirks,
'Just this one time, you stubborn problem child,'
"Hiashi, how's your daughter Lady Hinata?"
Hiashi's eyes widen and he flusters, then answers quickly,
"Yes, she's fine, thanks to you, of course."
"Right… and what about your brother? Hizashi Hyūga? How's he doing?"
"Enough with the chatting! This is a serious case, we all need to agree on one thing." Koharu displays his negative attitude toward Ryuu.
"Hmph…" Ryuu scoffs and looks at Koharu.
Ryuu slowly removes his mask and reveals his Sharingan.
"Shall I reveal the good news, Father?"
"Go ahead." Ryuu smiles,
"Koharu Utatane, Homura Mitokado, and Danzo Shimura. We have dismissed you from the Konoha council and-"
"What?"
"This is ridiculous!" They stand up, frustrated and disappointed at hearing this.
"Try to act civil about it. You're way too old to behave like that, you know."
Ryuu removed his feet from the table.
"Besides, the best news is yet to come."
"Do you expect us to simply sit here and take this disrespect?" Koharu asks,
"Yes."
"Tch!" They frustratedly grit their teeth,
Ryuu simply rolls his eyes.
"You're both extremely boring to me and so I'll tell you the big surprise now.
We have listed you as criminals of Konohagakure following the information I gathered up on your corruption and other acts against the Hokage."
They widen their eyes.
"Don't act like that, I'm nice, so I'll give you two a head start to run to Danzo's hideout and cry about being exposed.
Whatever you do, don't even think about going to Sarutobi-sensei for help."
"A head start?"
"Yes, I'll be chasing you three.
I like the thrill, what else can I say?"
Ryuu looks at the clock above and then he looks back at the elders,
"If I were you, I'd start running."
"You…" Koharu's voice trembled as he stood up with Homura. They stumbled on the door and pushed past it, hurrying up and out of there fleeing like rats.
"Now that they're gone, not that it matters, but I'd like to know how you all feel about this. Are we all in agreement?"
"The Uchiha clan agrees!"
"The Akimichi clan agrees!"
"The Yamanaka clan agrees!"
"The Nara clan agrees!"
"The Sarutobi clan also agrees!"
The Sarutobi clan had a new clan head because Hiruzen retired from all things related.
"The Senju clan agrees!" Ichika says.
Ichika was the new clan head for the Senju clan, following Tsunade's uninterest in such matters.
"The Hyūga clan agrees!"
"Good, with that being said, I'll hold one more meeting tomorrow. It's time for the new era to begin."
They all nod.
