Chapter 18: Chapter 18
There was an hour long lunch break after the cavalry battle.
Mineta and Kaminari did manage to rope the girls in to wear cheerleader uniforms. Hagakure danced with immense vigor.
After the break was over, the match ups for the knockout tournament were something like this:
Todoroki Shoto vs Hanta Sero
Hagakure Tooru vs Kaminari Denki
Ashido Mina vs Yaoyorozu Momo
Midoriya Izuku vs Jiro Kyoka
Iida Tenya vs Hatsume Mei
Tokoyami Fumikage vs Isuka Kendo
Asui Tozen vs Kirishima Eijiro
Uraraka Ochako vs Bakugo Katsuki
Since there were fifteen participants who qualified for the final event, one participant was chosen from the team that placed fifth in the cavalry battle. Kendo Itsuka was unanimously chosen by her teammates to be the finalist.
As everyone made their way to the seats in the stadium, Present resumed his commentary.
"Yeaaaaah!!!! Let's begin the knockout tournament!!"
The first match was Todoroki vs Sero... which, ended as quickly as it began. It was just a bad match-up. Todoroki, angry at Endeavour, had used far too much strength and froze Sero in a cliff of ice.
It was quite a show of power.
The next match, Hagakure came with only wearing a pair of gloves and shoes. She removed them as soon as the match began and moved out of the way of Kaminari's idiotic attack. He fried his brain in one move.
Hagakure was easily able to push him out of the bounds and got her win.
Ashido's and Yaoyorozu's match was quite underwhelming. The creation girl could create anything out of her imagination, yet, she chose to create a Bo to fight Ashido.
It turned out to be a melee with Yaoyorozu blocking the acid with a shield specially made of special material and trying to hit Ashido who danced around the staff like a professional.
Yaoyorozu barely managed to block Ashido's kick and uppercut with her shield. She was able to push Ashido out of bounds and win the match.
Midoriya's and Jiro's match was an interesting one.
For once, the boy was smart enough not to break any of his appendages and somehow managed to use the bare minimum of 'One for All' against Jiro. The girl was heavily handicapped as she did not have her amplifiers.
Despite of that, her earphone jacks were formidable on their own. Durable enough to break concrete, Midoriya had a hard time manoeuvring around them to get close to her. She managed to land a hit in Midoriya's gut, but, the boy had enough presence of mind to quickly roll back and avoid a blast of her sound.
He coughed and rubbed his gut in pain, but, years of being bullied finally showed its effect. He was able to endure it and rushed at Jiro who was taken aback by his charge.
Once he got close, Jiro was at his mercy. She tried to fight back, but, Midoriya just proved to be stronger and smarter. He shoved her out of the bounds and secured his win.
The next match was... funny as hell!
Hatsume played Iida like a fiddle and promoted her inventions till she had nothing left to show. It was as comical as one could expect.
Tokoyami and Kendo had an intense battle.
Kendo's proficiency in close combat was second to none. Meanwhile, Tokoyami's dark shadow was strong as itself. Their battle lasted longer than the one before.
There was a moment when they reached an impase. None were able to do much against the other. Dark shadow successfully kept Kendo at bay while the girl was strong and skilled enough to prevent dark shadow from doing any damage to her.
That was when Kendo did something different. When dark shadow was getting closer, she grabbed it and yanked Tokoyami towards her. The boy was caught by surprise.
Despite of his strong quirk, Tokoyami lacked in close combat skill. Kendo was able to gain the upper hand and defeat him by knocking him out.
"Yeaaaaah!!! That was one intense fight!! Now, on to the next one!"
I walked towards the arena with my eyes trained at Kirishima. He was going to a different kind of opponent for me and I was looking forward to seeing I would fare against someone who could become as hard as rock.
"He has dominated the tournament so far! From hero course... Asui Tozen!! He strong, he simple, he's manly!! From hero course... Kirishima Eijiro!!"
He stood opposite to me with his signature grin and his fist against his hand. I took a deep breath in and breathed out all of my anxiety.
"Aaaand, Staaaaart!!!!!"
Kirishima was not a smart fighter. He was a brawler through and through. The moment Present Mic yelled 'Start!', Kirishima hardened his arms and ran towards while yelling, "Let's have a manly battle, Asui!!"
I met him right in the centre of the ring with a knee to his gut while moving aside to dodge his head on punch. He was fast enough to harden his abdomen to block my knee from doing any damage.
"You'd have to hit harder than that, Asui!!"
I wasn't planning in having a drawn out brawl anyway. His face was close enough for me to use 'Stun spore' and I did exactly that.
*Cough* "Wha..! No..!"
He wasn't fast enough to evade the plume of spores. He tried his utmost to hit my face with his hardened fist, but, the effect of the spores was too quick and was effectively paralyzed. He fell down, stuck in a pugilistic pose and I looked at Midnight.
Midnight cracked her whip and asked him, "Are you able to move?"
He wasn't even able to reply and I was declared the winner.
It was an easy one.
I didn't need to wait for the next match to finish to know who my next opponent was going to be.
Katsuki Bakugo vs Uraraka Ochako.
'The match that created the 'Kachaco' ship...'
I barely stopped myself from vomiting. It was one of the most repulsive pairings.. at least for me.
'#IzuOcha forever... Unless I steal her from him.'
A man who wanted a genuine relationship with a girl, but, also wanted every other beauty in his harem... I was a walking contradiction.
