"You may go, dearie."
I rolled my sleeve down and said to Recovery Girl, "Thanks a lot for agreeing to this. I've been trying to gain control over my ability, but, so far, it's been a failure of an effort."
She gently waved her hand and said, "It's understandable. Don't worry, I'll discuss with Powerloader and we will come up with something. Now, go. You have a sports festival to participate in."
Nodding, I quickly left her office. My psychy had somewhat stabilized from the shit I did to that man. He was still in my appartment, sedated and tied up.
I entered the preparation room assigned to group A of hero course. I was right on time to witness the declaration made by Todoroki to Midoriya.
"Midoriya, objectively speaking, I am better than you and my quirk is more versatile. But somehow, I've seen All Might taking interest in you. I've seen him paying more attention to you and the two of you seem really close. I won't pry upon it but, I will beat you."
It was as ridiculous as in the manga/anime.
I sighed loud enough for everyone to hear and said, "Don't act like an edgy brat, Todoroki. This is just a sports festival. All we have to do is exhibit our quirks and abilities to the pros so that we can intern under them. Everyone knows whom 'you' will intern under anyway. So, chill a bit, yeah?"
Glaring daggers at me, he replied, "Don't try to stand in my way, Asui."
I blinked a few times and said, "But, you're not going anywhere... How am I in your way?"
I heard Mineta whisper to Kaminari 'He's got a point' and a few snickers in the background. The temperature in the room began to fall as Todoroki glowered at me and said, "Today is 'my' day, Asui. You better hope you won't have to face me."
I was not intimidated in the slightest and said, "Dude, you've been using only one half of your quirk ever since the day of our quirk assessment. Do you really think so little of us that you don't even try to take us seriously? Are you 'so' arrogant to believe yourself to be better than all of us? Do you really believe that you can become a hero by half-assing your way through college? With that kind of mentality, you'll get an ally or a civilian killed."
"Alright, that's enough!" Aizawa exclaimed after he arrived at the door.
"Get ready. It's starting."
Sure enough, Present Mic made an announcement for the first-year students to come out into the stadium.
"It's U.A. Sports Festival!! The time of each year when our fledgeling heroes compete in a ruthless grand battle!! First up... You know who I'm talking about!! The miraculous rising stars who brushed off a villain attack with their steely willpower!! The first years of the hero course!!"
The crowd cheered loudly. I looked back to see Todoroki glaring daggers at me. Perhaps my words struck a nerve. I turned around and waited patiently as the rest of the first-years made their way into the stadium.
The R-rated hero, Midnight, was our organizer. As we were being addressed, my eyes wandered around and found themselves glued to her body and her costume. Neither the anime or the manga did justice to her sinful body.
'Will my pheromones affect her?' I shook my head and concentrated on what was being said.
"... And now, for the student's oath! You're representative is, from goup A of first year's hero couse, Asui Tozen!!"
I took a deep breathand walked up the stairs of the stage. Holding the microphone, I said, "I'm the representative because I topped the entrance exam. Until this moment, I've been number one. If you think that you have it in you, then come and take it. Plus Ultra!!"
It was an open challenge and I knew that I might have seemed to be somewhat arrogant. It got the job done and riled up the stadium.
The first qualifier was an obstacle course race. Of course, I already knew that.
As Present Mic announced the start of the race, I jumped and used 'Aerial ace' to fly over the crowd of students in front of me as they tried to exit the narrow passage.
The first obstacle was the faux villains from the entrance test. Even the zero pointer robots were part of the obstacle.
I heard Present Mic giving commentary, "Every obstacle course needs obstacles!! The first obstacle is, Robot Inferno!!"
I used 'Double team' to manoeuvre through the group of two pointers and quickly passed them.
Jumping straight to the zero pointer's head, I roared and punched it using 'Bullet punch'. Needless to say, the zero pointer's head was blasted open and I safely landed behind it to continue running towards the second obstacle.
Present Mic squawked at my display of strength as the students on the ground gaped with their mouths wide open. I could feel the cold behind my back, so I didn't need to look back to see Todoroki taking care of rest of the faux villains.
I dashed forward without hesitation just as I heard Bakugo using his quirk to manoeuvre himself in the air, throwing profanities from his shit of a mouth.
'I wish I was bold enough to be as unhinged as him.'
The next obstacle was a canyon with two ends connected by numerous ropes. I used my vine whips to swing my way through the obstacle without much loss in my momentum.
Present Mic yelled into the microphone, "Asui Tozen is the first one to cross the second obstacle!! Aizawa, what do you teach your students?! They are ploughing through this race!!"
Aizawa simply sighed and didn't reply to him.
The next obstacle was a mine zone. I could easily see where the mines were if I looked carefully.
'Speed trumps all.'
I used 'Quick attack' to speed up before jumping high in the air. Then using 'Aerial ace', I sped in the air towards the end of the mine zone.
"Asui Tozen is the first one to cross the third obstacle!! The rest of the students are still crossing the second!! It seems we'll have our winner very soon!!"
'Huh, the others are surprisingly very slow...' I thought as I jogged towards the finish line. Even being far away from the rest, I could still hear Bakugo's swearing as he madly used his quirk to reach the finish line.
Seconds later, I was back in the stadium as the spectators cheered loudly for me.
"YEAH!!! We have a winner!! Asui Tozen, from group A of hero course, has managed to finish the race in record time!!"
"Too loud..." Aizawa mumbled.
I smiled as I was being cheered for. It felt nice. Though the moment was ruined when Midoriya and Todoroki entered the stadium, closely followed by Bakugo and his unhinged swearing.
Looking at the green haired boy, I thought, 'Perhaps I should have helped him in better understanding his quirk...'
'... Nah.. Let Gran Torino handle it.'
I needed to think about the next round.
The cavalry battle.
