"Lucifer's fallen angels? Has Lucifer also taken an interest in this matter?"
"The authority of Hellfire can seamlessly merge with the power of the Hell Dimension itself. Even the great Lucifer would not ignore authority like this when it's right in front of him."
The Ancient One glanced up at the sky, where more fallen angels approached from afar, circling over the barren mountain. Her right hand, hanging at her side, formed a sword-finger, and she subtly signaled. Suddenly, purple energy tendrils surged up from the ground, binding the three fallen angels.
In the next instant, she leapt into the air, flying quickly toward the other fallen angels circling above the mountain.
But at that moment, the three fallen angels she had bound released a burst of black smoke that rapidly corroded the purple energy tendrils, freeing themselves.
With a sudden shake of their black wings, the three fallen angels took flight, immediately pursuing her.
Among them, it was clear who the leader was. His piercing scream echoed, summoning all the fallen angels around him. Black smoke poured from the hands of each angel, transforming into chains that they directed toward the Ancient One, surrounding and halting her advance.
Meanwhile, the fallen angel leader descended to the summit of the barren mountain, placing his hand on the magic circle that protected it. Black smoke quickly corroded the circle, creating an opening, and he stepped into the cave. Inside, he saw Abel seated atop the mountain and immediately rushed forward.
The leader's eyes locked onto the egg-sized gem floating in front of Abel. Dark red in color and radiating intense heat, it was unmistakably the Hellfire authority granted to Abel by Mephisto, and exactly what the fallen angel leader sought.
Just as he was about to grab it, Abel's left hand suddenly reached out, taking hold of the gem. The final strand of Hellfire authority was absorbed, and the gem shattered into glimmering dust. With the last bit of Hellfire authority infused into him, Abel erupted with blazing Hellfire that struck the leader of the fallen angels directly.
The flames incinerated the leader's clothes and skin instantly, and even his dark wings rapidly disintegrated in the blast.
Boom!
A deafening explosion sounded as flames surged skyward, coloring the night crimson and consuming the magic circle protecting the barren mountain.
A scorched corpse, wrapped in flames, plummeted from the sky and crashed to the ground.
Seeing this, the fallen angels surrounding the Ancient One began to laugh, confident that their leader had seized the power of Hellfire, leaving the human mage nothing more than charred remains. To them, a mere mortal should never meddle with such authority; this was the fate of anyone who dared.
But as smug expressions spread across their faces, the burnt corpse within the flames moved. Dark smoke billowed from it as flesh, blood, sinew, skin, hair, and even featherless, wing-like appendages began to regenerate over the charred remains.
When the throat regenerated, a painful roar escaped it.
The fallen angels had mistakenly believed this charred body to be Abel's. As the face reformed, they realized, to their shock, that it was their leader who had been burned to ash, not Abel!
Step by step, the leader emerged from the smoldering pit, his body gradually returning to its former shape. Black feathers regrew on his wings as he strode forward, the black smoke around him coalescing into a sleek black suit, restoring his original handsome appearance, though his face now bore a dark expression.
Though his body had healed, the pain and humiliation of the experience lingered in his heart.
Meanwhile, the flames on the barren mountain began to subside, quickly shrinking until they vanished entirely. At the last flicker, Abel was revealed, suspended in midair, surrounded by Hellfire. A black rune shaped like a flame appeared on his brow, symbolizing his newfound Hellfire authority.
"Take him back as a sacrifice!"
At their leader's command, the fallen angels abandoned their attack on the Ancient One, rushing toward Abel. But just then, the Ancient One heard Abel's voice in her ear.
"Master Ancient One, leave this to me!"
Hearing this, the Ancient One paused and stopped advancing, choosing instead to hover in the air and observe the battlefield.
Abel raised his wand, aiming at the fallen angels approaching him. A dark red light flared at the wand's tip.
With the final infusion of Hellfire authority, the power merged with Abel's Fiendfyre spell, branching into two unique forms of magic—Hellfire Curse and Annihilation Ray!
As its name suggests, the Hellfire Curse summoned and controlled Hellfire, amplifying the Fiendfyre to new heights and focusing on the flames themselves.
Annihilation Ray, on the other hand, harnessed the rules embodied by Hellfire authority, condensing magic to a single point.
A beam of dark red, scorching light shot from Abel's wand, following a peculiar path of straight lines and right angles. Once cast, it locked onto its target, changing directions at sharp angles as it traced its prey, moving at an incredible speed.
In a blink, it pivoted at a right angle, evaded three defending fallen angels, and struck an off-guard target, incinerating the fallen angel instantly, reducing it to ash with no trace left behind.
Seeing this, Abel rapidly tapped his wand, sending a serpentine beam composed of straight lines and right angles from the tip. The fallen angels grew wary, doubling down on their defenses, unwilling to end up as instant ash like their unfortunate comrade. None wanted to make a single mistake, knowing there would be no chance of rebirth or recovery if they did.
