Chapter 27: Chapter 27

Abel and the Ancient One sat together on a futon on the ground, sipping tea from the cups on the low table beside them as they resumed their discussion.

"Ancient One, what do you need me to do?" Abel asked.

"The power of the dark dimension has been invading Earth from multiple locations recently. As the primary force tasked with maintaining the safety of the magical world, Kamar-Taj is committed to eliminating any potential crises. For example, the girl named Amensha that you met before—she is an ordinary person infested by the power of the dark dimension, and this is one of the issues we need to resolve. We've discovered a dimensional crack between the dark dimension and Earth that is heavily fortified by followers of Dormammu, and we must send enough sorcerers to handle it.

Kamar-Taj has too many areas to guard and insufficient manpower. Therefore, I've invited some sorcerers who have a good relationship with us to assist, but I need to know if you, Master Abel, are willing to help."

Abel felt a spark of interest in Kamar-Taj's magic. He recognized that the magic he learned in his previous life might be useful, but it wouldn't stand up to cosmic threats or multidimensional demon gods. Strengthening his connection with Kamar-Taj was essential for deepening his magical knowledge. Therefore, he naturally wouldn't refuse the Ancient One's request.

"Ancient One, of course, I personally want to help. Maintaining the stability of the magical world is a duty for every mage, and I am no exception."

The Ancient One smiled and raised her teacup in a toast to Abel, sipping the tea before responding. "Then according to the principle of equivalent exchange, Master Abel, what help do you require? What do you need?"

"Ancient One, I need Kamar-Taj's help to prepare an ancient potion. Many of the ingredients in the recipe are difficult to find, so I require Kamar-Taj's assistance in sourcing alternative materials, as well as support in terms of manpower and other aspects. Once the potion is complete, I am willing to share the recipe with Kamar-Taj."

"If that's the case, then it's not a true equivalent exchange. Kamar-Taj would obviously have the upper hand here," the Ancient One mused. "How about this: once the task is completed, I will offer one of Kamar-Taj's magics in exchange. I just need to know what type of magic you are interested in, Master Abel."

Hearing this, Abel considered his options. While he was intrigued by Kamar-Taj's large-scale magic, he quickly dismissed that thought. Learning such magic would be challenging to master fully and wouldn't be practical for him at this stage. Instead, there was one type of magic he needed desperately: Kamar-Taj's teleportation magic.

Abel thought to himself, I personally think that the teleportation in Harry Potter's world is cool and easy, but Kamar-Taj's teleportation magic was the pinnacle of such spells, far surpassing the Apparition used in the wizarding world.

Even skilled magic users could typically teleport only within the confines of a state or even a country, and there was a high risk of complications like splitting during the process. While Apparition was convenient for short-range teleportation, Kamar-Taj's teleportation was unique, allowing travel across vast distances with ease.

With that in mind, Abel smiled and said to the Ancient One, "If possible, I would like to learn Kamar-Taj's teleportation magic."

"Ah, I see. That's certainly doable," the Ancient One replied.

"Then it's settled. But when will we leave?" Abel asked.

"Let's go now. I believe we both have the time," she said.

"Yes, let's go! But who will be accompanying us?"

Just as Abel finished speaking, two portals opened simultaneously. Daniel emerged from one, accompanied by an elderly woman holding a black cat. The woman appeared frail, dressed in a purple robe and dark purple shawl, and looked to be in her 70s or 80s. However, her movements were remarkably graceful and agile.

From the other portal came a dark-skinned sorcerer along with a second black man. The latter had a disheveled braid and a white rune painted on his forehead, wearing an animal skin cloak. He carried a wooden staff adorned with three skeletons—clearly, he was a voodoo mage.

Abel speculated that the black sorcerer must be Mordo, someone he had not yet met. As the newcomers arrived, the Ancient One stood and acknowledged them, saying, "Welcome to Kamar-Taj, Master Agatha, Master Jericho."

Agatha nodded slightly in response, while Jericho offered a respectful salute to the Ancient One.

Upon hearing Agatha's name, Abel recalled Daniel's earlier introduction, realizing that the elderly witch was the sorceress stationed in the mysterious location in New York. He was less clear about the voodoo mage's background.

"This is Master Abel, a powerful mage in his own right. He will be joining us to eliminate the stronghold of the dark dimension and close the dimensional rift," the Ancient One introduced.

Jericho, the voodoo mage, immediately saluted Abel, showing humility. Agatha, however, eyed Abel curiously and turned to the Ancient One, saying, "Ancient One, is Kamar-Taj really so short on personnel that you've even brought in a child?"

"Master Abel is an impressive mage and possesses wisdom that belies his age. He will be an invaluable asset to our efforts," the Ancient One replied.

Agatha fell silent for a moment, then nodded. "Very well, but we shouldn't waste any time. I still have soup cooking at home. Let's go resolve this issue with Dormammu's lackeys."

"As you wish, Master Agatha. Mordo, Daniel, you both will join us. Let's move!"

With that, the Ancient One waved her hand, opening a portal to an unknown destination. Everyone stepped through and swiftly disappeared from Kamar-Taj.
