Chapter 16: Goals
<In a forest outside Tokyo>
"So, you want me to destroy this tree without me directly hitting it?"
The weasel like yokai nodded.
'Okay then' I thought as I took out Bonnie and shot the tree.
"..."
"..."
*Sigh* "Okay, I should have expected that, use Senjutsu not guns."

Deal damage but without directly hitting it, which basically means I'll have to use Ki which can deal internal damage leaving the outside mostly unharmed.
So, he wants me to deal internal damage rather than external. I see, hmm how am I going to do this?
I remember how in naruto the hyuuga clan use their strikes to block chakra pathways when they attacks, but the problem is they have to physically touch them to do it.
'Hmm, first lets coat my arms with Ki, deliver a punch but without actually hitting it and let the ki move to finish the job.' I thought.
"Okay, let's do this"

<An hour later>
"This is way harder than how I imagined it to be" I thought out loud
"Unless, you learn how to control the flow it will ultimately just fizzle out."
"So, this is also control training?"
"Indeed, go on and continue, you have all day"
"I'm not getting any kind of hints am I?" I asked in slight annoyance.
"You would if you were doing it completely wrong" he replied with a smile
"So I'm on the right track?" I asked quite surprised. He nodded.
So, trying to let the ki flow is the correct way, that's good. Now I think I just needs to learn how to control the output to actually deliver some damage.

It took me close to two weeks to actually do a bit of damage, just a bunch of cracks but still, progress.
*Sigh* I kinda wish it was like canon where, the MC unlock new forms left and right and became one of the strongest in like a year or so.
Real life sucks sometimes, even with superpowers.

After actually learning how to direct the ki like how I wanted it to flow, increasing the output for more power came pretty easy, it took me a two more weeks to fully learn how to properly control the output. So I spend exactly a month on this.
"For a kid that just succeeded for the first time, that was more powerful than I expected it to be" Nurarihyon commented looking at the destroy tree.

"Now you know how to control it, time to master it" Magari added "But you can take the rest of today as a break to rest up" she added.
"FINALLY!!"

I'm currently just sitting under a tree doing nothing with Ayame right beside me also doing nothing.
"Hey boss, when are you planning to leave?"
"Hmm, after I'm done with this as well as the extra training I'm doing with Setsura-san"
"Oh right, how is that going by the way?" she asked
"Let me ask you a question, how was the weather last night?" I asked with a grin.
*Gasp!!*
"That was YOU?!"
"Yep!" I replied, still grinning.
"That's awesome! Good job!"
"Thank you." I said smiling.
"But I still needs a lot of practice, I wasted too much demonic energy and the area of effect is a bit too small." I continued.
Though I'm not too worried about it, cause if my calculations are correct I should be able to cover the entire town of Kuoh under constant rainfall by the time it's time for highschool.
I should be theoretically be able to make it constantly rain 24/7, 365 days a year.
Since rainfall is formed by water vapors from surface waters that cooled down and condescended, I could cooldown the air, making it rain, then increasing the surface temperature increasing the evaporation rate and speed, thus going full circle again.
It's just going to be very wet and humid.

"How bout you?" I asked since we've been training separately for a while now.
"Fantastic actually, I'm focusing on my personal fire youjutsu and mixing it with Senjutsu to boost it's power and effect." She cheerfully said.
Her white flames are honestly amazing, they can burn like normal fire, but they also have the ability to burn the stamina and energy of someone until they become too weak to even stand and they soon drop due to tiredness. They will burn as long as the target has energy or as long as she allows it to burn.
"I'm trying to use senjutsu increase the rate of energy I can burn as well as the intensity and heat when I use them to just burn stuff like regular fire." she continues enthusiastically.
"I think you should also learn how to coat your swords with senjutsu for more damage"
"I know, Retsuza-san told me the same thing, I'll learn how to do it after I'm done with my flames"
I nodded "It's great that you're so hardworking"
"T-Thanks" she said with a small blush.
"This is something I've been meaning to asked for a while now, but I haven't got the opportunity to do so. What do you want to do?"
"Huh...what do you mean?" she asked in confusion.
"I mean, do you have any dreams, or aspirations you want to achieve, a purpose that drives you?"
It was a question I wanted to ask since the start of our training almost five months ago. She did just straight up join my side when I beat her.
"No, I really don't have that type of dream or a purpose in life"
[A/N: same]
"It sounds sad now that I think about it" she lightly laugh but continued, "I travel around, spend 5 to 8 years in a place and travel again, that was all I ever did after I left and be strong and powerful despite my size. It was fun seeing new things once in a while but other than that it was mostly dull. So, when you came and gave me the opportunity to actually have a real purpose, I just had to see if it was worth it."
"Hence the challenge?" I asked
"Yes" she nodded.
"I for one am glad you didn't straight up decline and actually gave me a chance ro recruit you." I said truthfully. "I use to be like you, no dreams and no goals. Sona what's to make a school though she doesn't know exactly what kind the last time she spoke about it, Rias wants to participate in rating games and being further prestige to her family and I'm just there with nothing. I could make the excuse that I'm only 11 but so are the girls."
"So, before I came to Japan, I did a bit of thinking. What do I want, why am I truly training and getting strong for? That's when I got my answer. To protect. Cheesy and cliche? maybe but like I said before this world is as chaotic as can be, a world where strength is everything. So I want the strength to be able to protect those I care for. So ultimately I want to one day stand amongs the top 10 most powerful beings in the world, becoming the strongest devils in the process." I declared firmly.

"Wow~, that's quite the goal you got there, a very selfless and noble dream" she said after a few seconds of silence.
"Selfless? I don't know how that's selfless, when at the end of the day I'm doing it for my own satisfaction and happiness." I said. "If I have to kill innocents to keep them safe I will do it without remorse, will I feel bad about it? I don't think so and that's not really noble is it" I continued.
"But you don't want that do you?" she asked softly.
"No, no I don't. That's why I'm not only am I working hard, but I'm also letting you guys work and train hard, just so situation like that doesn't happened" I replied. 'But I may have to kill one in the near future' I thought to myself.

That's also why it sometimes baffled me that some protagonist only trained themselves when they have people they wanted to protect. Unless the people you want to protect doesn't know they are in danger, one should always teach them at least the basic of how to protect themselves. Cause when enemies know they are your weakness they will immediately target them, and since you can't always be with them, they will always find a way.
...
I was brought out of my musing when Ayame suddenly laugh "HA! I expected nothing less for someone that has me in his little group" she added cheekily with a huge smile, clearly trying to lighten the mood.
Damn, she's adorable.
"That means you will have to work hard, the soon to be strongest devil will need the strongest peerage beside him." I added.
"Dont worry I will, and I have no doubt you'll be able to recruit a lot more powerful members." she said confidently.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence" I said, happily patting and stroking her hair as she slowly lean in and rest her head on my shoulder, with my had still behind her I decided to just roll with it and bring her closer through a sideway hug and continue stroking her hair as we sat in a comfortable silence.

Anyway, some of y'all might be wondering, what about Sirzechs and Ajuka, are they not strong enough to make the top 10?
In this fic, they are not.
They're be standing around the 12,13 spot if I were to make a list.
