Meeting Sally in the kitchen making breakfast, Delia and him exchange greetings, before she then offered to help in cook and clean the kitchen.

He at first refused her help, but she insisted; and he could in no way disobey his mistress's order.

As Delia cleaned the kitchen cabinets, Sally stepped out of the kitchen to check the working maids in the garden. 

Delia then heard a knock at the door.

Delia's attention was immediately stolen, snapping her eyes to the door. She stepped out of the kitchen and glanced around, sighting no guard nor maid to open the door. And Sally wasn't yet back from the backyard.

Hearing the knock come again, Delia contemplated for a few seconds. The person then knocked harder the third time.

"As big as this house is, there's no guard for the door?" She asked herself, wondering if it was safe for her to open the door in Sally's and Damien's absence.
